I am looking at having the local polaris shop install electric start to my 2010 polaris 800 dragon. What is a reasonable price to have this done? I thought that the price quoted was a little high. Your thoughts.

thanks

Not sure but I think you need to put a whole new primary clutch on with the Polaris electric start. That's probably the reason for the high cost.

What is the additional cost for a new sled with electric start?

Is this a 500 to 600 increase in price?

When I snowchecked my 09 800 it was an extra $400.I believe its $500 for a Pro.Yes the primary is differant as there is a ring gear on the back of it for the starter. It will cost alot more than a factory add on as of all the extra labour.I would neverpay to add it later but at the time of order its worth it as I love the easy start.I also have it in my wifes 09 700RMK

My thougt is that the price I was quoted 1200 is not worth the addition. I would be better off to snowcheck a new sled with electric start. I bought the 2010 at an excellent price and could resell it for my investment and upgrade to a pro with factory installed electric start.

I think list on a start kit is about $650. If you call Freeagent on this forum, she will give a good discount. I installed E-start on my wife's IQ 600 myself. It comes with good instructions and is not a hard job. It just takes a little time, using basic tools. You do need to have a clutch puller, or borrow one.

When I bought a 2010 600 RMK for my wife, it was about $600 cheaper to order the sled with electric start ($400) versus adding it to a sled on hand ($1,000). The big ticket items are the new primary clutch, starter and cable assembly, battery, and installation labor. Electric start is the best upgrade you could make if the sled is for your wife!!!

I just did this on the wifes ssled,

Estart kit is 599.00 then you have to buy the battery also. Kit comes with a new Primary clutch minus the weights and springs..they will be used on the new clutch. I cant find my reciept for it but I think around 1000 would be about right.

It isnt hard to do by yourself if you want to save a couple of hundred..then what is your time worth is the next question.

It comes in real nice also and doesnt add a lot of weight either.

remember to get your old clutch back!

If anyone is looking to add this feature I might be willing to trade my set up plus $200.00. My son has a 2009 700 with E-start and I would like to take it off... This sled only has 450 miles on it, all is like new and would have to trade primary clutches, so would like simillar mileage..?
