did they change anything about the rear tunnel support from the 11's to the 12's? obvioulsy it is a known weak spot on the tunnel for the 11's. trying to figure out if i need to buy some aftermarket support plates. what causes these tunnels to crack there?

I worked on a 2012, and it is identical to the 2011. The faille it is caused by some factors.

The thinness of tunel material
A bad design at this particular area.
A hardcore rider ( big jump, cat walk, etc, etc)
Too much weight on the back (ex, fuel)
And some driver tie a sled whit excess weight

The reinforcement plate is thicker with some additional rivets.

huummm!?? :face-icon-small-con There, the oem 2011 and 2012 parts is identical.

The difference on the caliper is the coating on the 2012.

So the 2011 has more rivet holes ;)
Ha!ha! This 2011 parts come from a sled fixed by a crazy dealer that tried more rivet. Completely bad idea.... :face-icon-small-sho

Note, the black arrow indicate the original holes.

From what I have seen the only time it is an issue is when you have more weight on the tunnel then the 15 pds polaris reccomends..and you bottom the suspension...as long as you stay below 15 pds or dont bottom the suspension hard it is a non issue..I install custom side plates on my sleds because we pull loaded tow sleds to haul fuel and food to our cabin 50 miles from the road...we have done these on dragons, pro's, xp's and a few older cats...

sled

polaris told us the 2012s are fixed, all we did on our 2011 is added more rivets to them before they bent and they help up fine after that
