Rear suspensions

I am gonna be buying a skid for my 09 assault 146 this off season. I have been leaning towards timbersled but I am interested in hearing about how well k-mod and alpha-x. Is there much of a difference between them as far as how they handle? I would really like to hear more about the k-mod, do they make a 146?

Call and talk to Kevin or Budd at KMOD and they'll answer all of your questions. The 146 shouldn't be a problem other than you might have to wait a couple of weeks for IceAge to build a set of rails, but the arms are the same.

X2, just get ahold of Kevin at KMod. After running his skid the last two seasons I wouldn't even consider anything else. Get the Raptor shock package if you can swing it too, great shocks.

Pretty sure I am gonna go with the k-mod. Is the DR needed after a quality suspension is installed? I am hoping to get away with just the skid. The hole that I made in my tunnel for the exhaust dump is preventing me from doing the DR. I am sure I could still make it work but I would either need a new pipe or fab this pipe to fit.

I am doing the same thing. while the alpha x is a great skid the kmod or timbersled skid that allows you more effective transfer adjustment would be a better choice.

I don't have any personal experience with the kmod, so I can't say anything about it.

But I have been running the new redesigned Timbersled Mtn. Tamer on my 2012 pro rmk this season. I'm running 10.5 #s. I do a lot of technical boondocking, deep snow riding, and have hit multiple 100+ foot cliffs with this setup. My shock choice is EXITs, because of their great ride, toughness, and their great tunability. The suspension has handled the jumping extremely well. It's designed and built very strong. My favorite feature is the coupling adjustment knob. It is so functional! No tools required, and I can make the adjustment in literally 20 seconds. Most of the time I like having ski lift for agility purposes with my sled and the ability to wheelie over or around obstacles. But when I need to climb something, or get out of a nasty tracked up drainage where control is essential, I make the necessary adjustment. Highly recommend the Timbersled!

More climbing or more dockin?

Mostly real tight boondocking. Is any of these skids better as far as getting up on the snow? When the snow is deep, it seems like I do more digging then climbing. We don't have a lot of wide open climbs or tree riding like u guys do out west. As of right now, I like k-mod and timbersled. Haven't totally made up my mind yet. They both look like great skids. I am not sure if one would be better than the other.

I've had both, but I've not ridden one of the "new" Timbersled designs, but as of now, I won't switch. Which ever you buy, do yourself a favor and upgrade to the best shocks you can afford.

I have 2 of the Kmod Suspensions with Rapter Shocks. I absolutely love them. Easy to adjust and tune for the riding that your doing. If you havn't tried them you should, and there won't be a question left in your mind. They are that good.:face-icon-small-hap
