Rear suspension ? Tighten limiter and lay down shock question.

I have a an 08 and 09 Dragon and am considering tightening up the limiter strap and lowering the front shock and would like to know what the pro's and con's to doing this. I understand it will plane out quicker and be better in the powder. But will this apply more ski pressure? All in all would like to know what the good and bad would be.
 
IF you look at your shock/spring when its in the up position its trying to push the the skid down giveing you a worse approach angle but it will make the steering a little lighter. when you lay the shock down it collaps alot easyier and theres not as much force pushing on the skid, giveing you the best deep powder performance because when it collaps it gives you a better approach angle. think of it like your skis the got a lip on the end to get you up on top of the snow with a bad approach angle the lip of the ski is bent way up almost like trying to get a brick up on top of the snow its the same concept.
when you lay the shock down its the the best setup for jumping if thats what you like to do.

limiter straps i like mine tight i like contol and less wheelieing when you wheelie you loose momentum and you loose track on the ground but theres a fine line you dont want your nose down and pushing snow
 
just layed my shock down, i lifted the rear with the jack then put a roller under the front of skid and let down so it loosens the limiters, undo the limiters, lift rear and put roller under rear of skid and let down, unbolt uper shock mount and re bolt, lift rear end place roller under front again to reconnect limiter straps.
 
I layed mine down and will be trying it for the first time this week. I left the limiter straps in the middle hole.

I put a ratchet strap around the shock and collapsed it a bit, which made it nice and easy to remove the upper bolt and relocate it.
 
I haven't had a chance to try it with this chassis yet, but it worked great on the edge chassis.
I did lower my front shock for better approach angle. Although I let the limiter straps all the way out. Tightening them with the shock in the lower position really limits travel as you are compressing the the shock. In addition you are already moving the shock to a less efficient position. I do some jumping and don't want to risk anything. If you are only boon docking or climbing it may not be as critical.
 
Looks like I will be laying the shock down. I think I will try leaving the strap in the middle hole and see how she runs. Thanks for all the input guy's.
 
I tried this and hated it, it felt to me like the front end of the sled was plowing snow. I was getting stuck in places that I would normally just blast through. When my sled went in for the update I got the shocks serviced and bumped up the pressure 200>225 psi. This turned my sled in to a wheely monster. I might try the lower hole again, maybe with the higher pressure in the shocks I will like it better!!
 
i have my limiters as tight as they will go shock layed down suspension moved back wich is going to give me the most ski pressure possible. well to say the least i cant keep my skis on the ground loose alot of momentum when my skis are 10ft in the air.

but best thing to do is just try it for yourself
 
what about laid down shock and loose straps? im running this now.....maybe ill move the straps up a hole and give it a try
