rear suspension problems

My track nobs are rubbing on the bottom of my idler wheel rod. I am also going through hyfax like you would not belive. I put a brand new pair on and I wore them out to within 15 miles. They dont wear all the way through to the metal slides but down far enough that there is barely any hyfax left on at the curve of the hyfax. What are some possible causes of this? could I change my suspension setup or maybe my suspension mounting position. Please help I want to get all my problems fixed this summer....almost forgot, sled is a 2004 mountain cat 144".

Post some pics. if you can...That would help more...
Possible problems I see....Track is too tight. Idler wheels are mounted incorrectly, and not keeping the track off the hyfax. Not cooling the hyfax enough with loose snow, or Ice scratchers, this will cause them to wear pre-maturely. Just a few ideas...but would help to see some pics.

Track too tight, limiter out all the way and skid shock too stiff, low snow and no scratchers, low snow with scratchers but going fast, and bad cleats on the track windows all lead to fast wear out of hyfax.

this is the skid that I took out to take pics and fix. It is upside down in the pics. Also, when I took the skid out i found about 10-15 track clips missing from the right side only. Is the track running crooked(is that possible?). The hyfax are wearing right at the bend in the rail. But if you look you can see the four holes that are being wore right in the cross brace. Any ideas on what to do about clips and rubbing would help. Thanks!!!

It looks like the track is too tight. Also is the cross member(shock mt) in the correct spot? It seems low....hard to tell from the pic. It looks like the track clips are rubbing the holes in it. With the track off the ground (suspended) you should have 1 1/2 to 2" of clearance from the hyfax..(loose) I would replace the cross piece, and then verify the mounting location. Also...are the idler wheels slightly below the hyfax?...if not, they will cause excessive wear at the bend on the hyfax. Just a few observations.
Post a couple more pics....of the suspension right side up, and laying on it's side..

Those marks on the cross tube are normal for a sled with the hyfax worn out. They run very little clearance even with good hyfax! Go back and look at my post, replace the clips and adjust track for running straight and proper tension. Back off the front skid shock tension. Put on some scratchers.

Thanks for the input so far. The Hyfax wear out to quickly to even put new ones on. This is one of my problems...no kidding, i put a new pair on and they were wore out within the first 10 miles. They wear down to a certain point then stop. They dont wear all the way through. I feel like the track has proper tension but might be a little too tight. The suspension mount is in the only spot it can go. There are no other holes in the rails that it can go into other than a hole the same size and height on the rail about 3 inches back from where it is now( which would mean a longer shock at a differen angle). The idler wheels are far lower than the bottom of the hyfax as you can tell in the pics.

I posted some more pics. One of the new ones is of the front of the rails that is chewed up from something. Either the drivers or the track windows??? Does anyone know what would cause this..

So i am thinking of putting an antistab wheel kit up front and putting the same set up further back near the stock idler wheel for more clearance over the hyfax.

I see your front shock and limiter strap are adjusted so that you should not be wearing like you are. The hit rail tips also suggest that your track tension is loose and should not cause wear. Your track clips must be ruff or you get a lot of dirt on the slides. The slides look like they have ground in dirt. Double check all your track clips, get some scratchers, and try some graphite slides and break them in properly. Make a short run on hardpack to get them hot then sit a little while and let them cool. Do that a couple times and see if it helps. I've seen new hyfax wear out in less than 3 miles with no scratchers and hardpack trails.

had this happend to me

The holes in the idler wheel block was oval, so was the holes in the rail. changed the idlerwheel blocks , the holes in the rail i filled with a weld and drilled up again.
