Rear stock idlers inside rail

Has anyone modded the stock rear idlers to go inside the rails with the stock axle?

I have done it on my 2010 MTX SE. Had to cut the stock spacers accordingly and take the bolt out of the end of the stock shaft. Cut the shaft down to size and re thread the bolt into the shaft. Rode it for a couple trips like that. I ended up going with OFT's Big nutz axle for the stock wheels for piece of mind. I would recommend OFT's axle before modifying the stock one. If the stock one breaks it could get real ugly:face-icon-small-sho

Tower,
Do you think that the stock modified axle is in more risk of braking than stock?

Really depends on how well you are able to modify it. If I remember correctly there is a cotter pin through the shaft and the bolt. When I modified mine I never put that cotter pin back in. Really up to you, I just didn't want a modified shaft that I made break on me in the back country. If I think of it I will grab a few photos tonight of it for you.
