Rear shocks, what is working?

Imo the in season stock w.e. rear shock package on the 2016 axys is about as functional as that of a 1979 Trailfire...

Who has been running aftermarket and what do you think?

It would be great to hear real world experience from those who have serious seat time on the Fox, Zbroz, Raptor, revalves, spring kits, etc... Running around the mountains.

Thanks in advance!

My raptor shocks have been amazing on my axys. I had them on my 15 pro and they bottomed to easy even with clickers turned way up. On the axys, once jake reworked them for proper CTC they have been phenomenal. Minimal bottoming and a much better feel than the stock shocks

No input, but have to agree, those shocks are crap. On my Doos, they are really pretty good out of the gate, until you really cook them snowcrossing the bumps or they get some time on them. The WE on my Axys were CRAP out of the lot at zero miles, I was very unimpressed. I thought I was going to break the sled in half, it bottomed so badly. My bud had his revalved at Carl's, he is really happy with them now. It took them a while to nail the valving, but it is good now. Carl's also has a custom rear spring that helps a lot.

I have zbros. Very nice shock and work well. They are heavier than stock. I honestly like the fox evol r's that were revalved by Toms snowmobile on my Cat better. Two different sleds, but Im very impressed with his valving. Makes the fox package really plush, and they weigh a lot less than the zbroz

The rear shocks work well, but they need to be re-valved. We re-valve almost every pair of shocks that come through our shop, but we have also sold a lot of the Fox QS3 rear shocks. Have had great success with those, and for the money, they can't be beat!

Thanks guys.
Agreed, I have had various Evols revalved by Tom's and Carl's and have to say both were a significant improvement over the factory Fox stuff for my 230lb riding weight. I have spoiled myself with good shocks in the past and the difference they made on the cat/pro rmk is astonishing. Want to get the feelers out to you Axys riders who have been hammering it this season, I haven't been out a ton yet this year and honestly the skid is just killin' me when I go.
Imo Polaris lags way behind the other manufacturers in the shock department, and again where is the tether ya goofballs, you are building a Mountain sled!?!:face-icon-small-ton. Haha, they are so close to delivering a really great snowmobile to us from the factory... Anyway there is another thread for that.
I have not owned an excellent quality coil over set in the past (mostly due to that weight penalty.) However, there are many riders way better than myself are running them on multiple sleds so they clearly work. I'm once again leaning toward the Fox stuff but I would love to hear everyone's opinion on what are working best on the stock geometry Axys skid and why you love what you have.

This makes me wonder just how in the world the stock w.e. valving can be so dang crappy!

I have the WEs revalved by Carl's and I am running the 230 lb. spring on the rear track shock. I could not be happier. Best ride that I have ever had by a long ways. I am also running the KMOD 37" A arms. The combination is a great package. Responsive as heck in the deep snow, heavy snow, hard snow, etc. An added benefit is that it has an amazing ride down the trail when you have to be one. It is a lot less money to revalve than it is to buy all new shocks. I am not an air shock lover so there will never be a set of those on my sled. I know that they work better than in the past but I am not going there. I run a coil over shock on my mountain bike because I like how it works. I put a titanium spring on it to keep the weight down.

front shocks feel decent, its the rear that total blows. I can bottom this thing out on command. I am throwing in a WE Needle Piggy off the Assualt. i may need a Big Boy spring too. we'll see.

Does Trs on these forums, have a shock valve spec for the axys like he does for the pro rmk chassis?

For apples to apples and all, you are talking about the baseline "in season" Walker Evans shocks, right? No clickers or needles or whatever other goofy named we shocks are out there, correct?

Also what do you consider your riding style? Jumping anything?

Not as of yet. Talked to him earlier today. Will be working on something in the near future. Contacted Raptor Shocks today as well and they now have a rear track shock for a 2016 Axys RMK. Rode my new Axys for the first time twice last weekend and it did not take long to figure out that it needs help with the shocks.

No experience with the Axvs but you can't go wrong with Elka's. They are awesome on the pro. The stage 5 have triple springs with separate low and high speed dampening and also have rebound adjustment

I would go to those on my Pro if I didn't have the Skinz set up. Those KC7111 shocks are sweet.

Have your had a chance to try them out? Any idea what they weigh compared to Burandts Fox setup? I was kinda surprised but the QS3's I put on mine were heavier then the standard WE
