Rear motor mounts?

Hey everyone, hope your all surviving the warm months. Just doing some work on the tractor, and my rear motor mounts are shot again. Just did a compfusion front mount job last year, and new stock rear mounts as well. I pulled the motor for other work, and the rear mounts are shot again(probably due to a broken front engine support brace). So I ordered the 06 stock rear mounts, hearing that they were updated materials, but when they came in, they look and feel the same durometer of rubber. What gives? They were a hundred bucks, so i didn't take them. Any suggestions boys?

If the front crossmember broke then it's understandable motor would take out remaining rear mounts, there's just so much torque there to contain. You're doing good if you get 3 years out of any motor mount on these puppies. I see rear motor mounts online, Babbitts etc. around 30$ ea. For what it's worth, my method of installing engine is to start the 4 bolts on crossmember & two rear bolts by hand, snug-em up with ratchet, then align SLP torque stop to nuetral on crankcase bolt location. Then loosen all motor mount bolts 1/2 turn, next I'll put some pre-load (extend torque link) on the slp trq. stop, 1 full turn. Next is final tighten motor mount bolts starting with rear mag side, then front pto, then front mag, and finally rear pto side. Also make sure rear pto dampener is in good shape. All this tends to help with excessive kick-out towards rear of secondary clutch when you set clutch alignment (float). Then I set the stock torque stop, pto side, and slp push stop, recoil side to .020-.030 clearance. Most importantly, call a buddy over and have a few cold ones while you're at it! Enjoy this summer, I'm out!

SW...

best damn advice ive read....nailed it to the T...good work...could not have said it better myself...

but i would only add....start with some Cold ones, and progressively smash some more as you work....and enjoy!! ;)

Sincere questions.

What purpose does this serve?

How are you locking the motor in place once you have tightend the bolts to prevent the engine from migrating under load/vibration?

Are you leaving the SLP torque arm under load in it's resting position after you have performed your preload procedure?

Are you checking for alignment after your procedure (Center to center, Horizontal and in-line)?

So that's it. Just the stock 06's that look and feel exactly the same as the 05's? I thought Hiperf offered an alternative. I can't seem to find anything diff on their site.

Mac,

There are no bolt on aftermarket replacement rear mounts for the 900/755's.

If the remainder of the system is good.... ie, no broken/torn front mounts, no broken front mount plate, bolts tight, torque stop adjusted correctly, clutches aligned and a good helix in the sled [like a 66-44/42] then the 2006 mounts should last you a long time.

If your alignment is off, there really is no way to adjust the factory settings... this sux and is probably one of the major reasons why some 900's had no problems and others were nothing but.

Also make sure that the displacement-limiter update is installed (std on the 2006) and that the urethane washer is in good shape behind it.

Just did a 975 top end on a sled this spring that has a 975 and NOS on it....the rear mounts are original on the 2005 chassis and in good shape... though he has been thru 2 sets of front mounts and 3 of the 4 bulkhead/crossmember bolts broke before switching to the 2006 mounts 2 seasons ago and replacing all the motor mount bolts with L-9 bolts.

You would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a 2005 and 2006 rear mount ....especially if it is a used part.... unless you are using a durometer gauge.

Ha Ha! Yes Guido, last weekend I fixed my motor mount- friend brought over some turbo-lites and I must say that is some 'ground breaking' technology right there, compliments those cans with the blue mountains on them nicely! MH, good questions but I can't answer in detail, my computer won't let me 'submit reply'- is there a time limit?!

Mine does that too from time to time...

I go back and open the thread in a new tab/window again and then reply...
