Read what I write please! Snowmobile related articles on Examiner.com

Not to bad.

Sounds like a Yamaha sales pitch for the first 3/4 of the article.

I am assuming you will writing next about the improvements made to the loud, smelly, smoking two strokes?

They have come a long ways, sounds like a great topic for your next write-up.

One suggestion would be attempt to tell readers about the improvements and the advantages without stepping on the toes of others.

IMO

It gets me going when I read an article like this...I'll tell you why. First, I'm not bashing, but you did ask for our opinion! 2-Strokes did have a reputation for being loud and smoke burning machines. Anyone that is not up to date in the snowmobiling industry will say that they stink and are obnoxiously loud (which they were). But look at today's stock 2-stroke sleds. They are very quiet (with stock can) and don't consume near the oil the old "smokers" did. They definitely don't sound like a 2-stroke dirt bike. Now you have the Ski-Doo direct injected 2-strokes (others are following) and they are more efficient that most people's cars! I just think that being from the snowmobile world, you should enlighten people on some of these details as well, unless you are a Yamaha salesman! Good stuff.

You guys gotta keep in mind, this guy is from the twin cities, not a mountain rider. His obvious bias toward 4 strokes is somewhat forgivable in context.

Great Yamaha ad btw, well done.

Come out to the mountains & see how well those stock 4 strokes work...

hahahaha. this is funny. I ride a 04 Summit X 800 only out in the mountains. I dont ride around here. I am not a 4 stroke person at all and I am not a Yamaha person at all. my brother has a turboed 4 stroke Nytro. so stop assuming and making stereotypes people. I am just trying to write an article that people will read. and thanks for the people that actually gave advice. I will definately write an article on new improved 2 strokes next.

It seemed so blatantly a one sided article about how 4 strokes are the only way to go, that you have to understand some people's reaction to this.

Come out to the mountains & see how well those stock 4 strokes work...

Hey. HEY!!!! My Doo 1200 is stock and it, well, I'll say it's not bad....

Anyway, I didn't see the article as slanted in Yamaha's favor too much. But I thought it jumped around a little, rather than having one main point for it's content. On a side note, is the ZR1 a 4-stroke or 2?

And skip the 2-stroke article next. Write about the new Doo 1200 and how it will be better than the turbo'd yami's and why....Now I might be a little biased. :)

After reading it again, I agree there was probably too much bias in it. I could have written a 20 page report on it, but wanted to keep it short. The intention was not a manufacturer battle or 4 stroke vs 2 stroke. I wrote it to inform environmentalist non snowmobilers that the manufacturers are working towards a cleaner emission, quieter sled but still have a production high horsepower sled. thats why it may have seemed biased to Yamaha because they were the pioneers of the 4 stroke and Cat with production turbo. Like I said before, I am a Doo guy, but I also give credit where credit is due.

On a different note, should I be gearing my articles towards snowmobilers or non snowmobilers…? I have another article that I will be posting that reviews/compares the spring order specials between the manufacturers. I don’t want to get into brand bashing, I don’t want to be bias, but sometimes that’s what gets people to read. :)

I am not sure who your audience should be exactly, but i do know that if one is not at all interested in a certain subject that reader will not read your article. as a snowmobiler i did read it but i can tell you i chose to by association. pretty good artical by the way, as far as the details about noise smell etc.... that really is a different subject. but maybe to get other readers such as the tree huggers enviromentalists etc i think you should tell them how snowmoiles are good for the environmet ,to get the reader to pay attension to the deatails such as they are on the right path to "clean machines" . as far as good for the enivironment well i dont know, um tell the readers that snowmobiles rescue skiers and help avi teks understand and predict avalanches so the can set off a series of smaller avalanches to save trees or somthing.
