Re waterproofing??

Does anyone have a good method of re- waterproofing your sledding gear? I bought some nice Artic Gear Bibs and they did great for about 2 years. I have sprayed them with Camp Dry and it helps, buts fails in short order. I heard once about Teflon Detergent?? ANy good ideas. Thanks

My klim gear stayed real dry last season, but since washing it, it's lost some of its waterproofiness. Have some revive-x on teh way, we'll see.

I usually hose down my pants/boots/etc with that camp-dry type spray once a month or two after I wash them... do it in the driveway and let them dry in the garage... that stuff reeks

Sooner or later all gear looses it's waterproofing as it breaks down. Multiple washes and exposure to UV rays is generally the culprit. But, you can revitalize some gear by using something like a Nixwax wash and waterproofing. Just don't wash your gear in standard detergent whatever you do.

I generally waterproof my old gear at the beginning of the season, then maybe 25 days into the season if I feel it's starting to get wet pretty easy.

Oh, this is what you want to look for, TX Direct Wash, do a google search or stop by REI, Joes type places. They all carry it:

I'd rather ride soaking wet than shop at REI. Shop ANYWHERE else, please! Otherwise, you may as well just walk in and hand them the keys to your sled. That's what they're after anyway!!

Update

I wanted to update this as I think it will help others. Per the responces I tried the Nikwax products. Specifically I used the Tech wash to clean my gear and the Polar guard to renew the water proofing on my sled gear. The Tech wash does quite the job. I had been washing my Army gortex for years using regular laundry soap. It had gotten dinghier with time, still didn't leak though. The tech wax cleaned it to the point it almost looks new. Same results with my riding jackets and bibs. I used the Polar Guard on my bibs as the coats hadn;t leaked yet. It is nice as you do it in the washing machine and no stink. Then low tumble dry. I haven't used the sled gear yet, however I did take it out in the rain while wearing my gortex and both garments beaded water much faster than before the treatments. I bought it at Tri State in Moscow, ID. It costs a bit, $20 bucks for both products, but at least the Tech Wash really seems to work well. You can treat about 10 items roughly. Not bad for over $800 dollars worth of gear. I will update after riding some. With a family of six riders, it helps.

after i wash my climb gear i iron them lightly and this reseals them i never used waterproffers on them yet. (3 years).

From Gore-tex website;

WASH
Machine-wash warm (104° F/40° C). Powder or liquid detergent. No fabric softener. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
DRY CLEAN
If professionally dry-cleaned, request clear distilled solvent rinse and spray repellent. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
IRON
Steam-iron warm, placing a towel or cloth between the garment and the iron. No need to iron the garment until it is completely dry.
BLEACH
No chlorine bleach. It may damage your garment.
DRY
Tumble-dry warm. The heat from the dryer will help to reactivate the durable water repellent (DWR) treatment on your garment's outer fabric.
WATER REPELLENT TREATMENT
Gore recommends applying a topical water repellency restorative (DWR treatment) for outdoor fabrics, available at your local outdoor retailer. We do not recommend wash-in treatments as they can affect the garment's breathability.
STAIN REMOVAL
Use a pre-wash treatment such as Shout® or Spray 'n Wash®, following its manufacturer's instructions. Rinse well.

It works

I used the Nikwax Tech Wash and Polar Guard products and they seem to be working well. I have been out 4 times now and have stayed dry, even in a pretty fair rain shower. Seems to be an economical way to maintain expensive riding gear.
