I cant say I did... But then guy that did it said I had to gear down because stock is way to high. Gear down coming this year.

The sheaves come stock with different angles so the belt won't clamp as well at WOT. The machined version takes down the odd side to match the other (which matches the belt angle BTW). As for making a difference... well my Holz vent kit is still sitting in my office collecting dust because I never build much clutch heat so... I'd say it was one of the best mods I ever did to my Pro second only to the EZ Board running board inserts which saved me from blowing a 5 spot on Airframes!

Have FUN!

If you gear down to mountain gearing you zip through this angle change quickly instead of play along in the transition area.
It's added value is better sheave angle to contact the belt in the clutching phase (the part where the sled moves to x mph but the belt-clutch are still trying to grab each other) of your CVT.

MO from observation of grooves in the bottom of the primary.

It tremendously reduced belt heat in the deep for me. I had this done at the beginning of last season and ran a belt that had about 800 miles on it from my old dragon just in case. Ended up running it all year.

Season before without the mod, I went through 2 belts. In all of the years since the 1115 belt had come out, I had only burned through 1 belt.

Coincidence you might say? No. The belt temps were much lower.

Carl's Cycle have been the pioneer's on this. It's definitely worth the improvement. I also had them balance the clutch at the same time.

I ride much lower alt's than many of you. For my altitudes and experience with this, a gear down of more than 19-42 would only mask the issue.

Thanks everyone . Would you rebalance your clutch after machining if it was already balanced ?

I believe the true pioneer was Indy Dan. Also Carl's does none of their own clutch work, they farm it all out to an old man with a machine shop a few blocks away. According to Dan, the old man learned most everything he knows from him. FWIW

Back in the mid 80"s I had an 600 triple that wouldn't go 1 mile at WOT without shelling a belt, We sent the clutches off to be faced. That was the term we used at time. The next year Polaris did this on there own. I can't believe they got away from this and went to a more expensive belt instead. I guess like everything else we've come full cycle.

I just had this done .. the term Micro Belmont uses is TRUE and Balance ..

I did it for the top end advantages .. but it helps grab the belt harder also like for Drag Racing!!

If you use some 11 year old weights and not 10s the heel weight should not be as big of a factor at full shift !!
