Rcmp

Well I do live in BC and I must say that response is probably the most distasteful one I have ever read. Four men( with families like you) die in the line of duty and the best you can do is come on and spread trash.

Have some respect!

hey man, don't get me wrong...i have the utmost sympathy for those families that lost their loved ones...it was a tragic thing, to be sure, and i'm glad the perpetrator paid with his life, and in that case, justice was served...all i'm saying is that the rcmp seem to be held to a different standard than anyone else...as i said, what would happen to you if you killed someone while driving drunk? pretty sure it would be more than a slap on the wrist....by the way, are you aware that in kelowna a couple of years ago an elderly man was tasered by an rcmp officer while waiting in his car for his elderly wife? his only crime was that he was in a no parking zone...you call that fair? all i'm saying is that the rcmp need to be held accountable for their actions, and when they are found to have done something wrong, they should not be suspended with pay...i realize that putting on a badge and carrying a gun to protect society can be, and often is a very dangerous proposition, and, for the most part, peace officers do an outstanding job, but does the fact that they wear a badge and a gun make them above the law??? i think not...and, again, i say that i am truly sorry for those that have lost their lives, including the innocent victims that have died at the hands those who are supposed to be protecting us...

keep in mind, everyone, that i'm not trying to get anyone's feelings hurt, or to anger anyone...just my opinions, with some facts thrown in....as someone once said, if you don't like it, don't look at it...

Pick your time and place . A guy thanks the RCMP for their support and you post that? I am not a cop nor do I know any cops and I found that comment extremely offensive. Personally I hope for your sake that every post below the first one in this thread is erased.

you hope for MY sake??? i didn't want to bring this up, but how many of you have had a friend that was fatally shot by an rcmp member?? not too many, i'll bet...well, i have...several years ago, in north vancouver, the rcmp were executing a search warrant...they kicked in the WRONG door, and shot and killed my buddy, who was sitting on his couch, holding the t.v remote...for me, it's personal....let's just say that i'm not a fan of the rcmp...that's all i have to say on the subject...

Klubbo - just like everyone else, your anger is being misdirected.
If a few RCMP officers break the rules, does that mean that all of the thousands of RCMP officers are also bad?
If a few of the thousands of big rig drivers don't maintain their vehicles and end up killing a family, does that make the other thousands of drivers bad?
If a few doctor's or dentists sexually assault their patients while under anesthesia, does that make all the thousands of Drs and Dentists bad?
If a few quadders go ripping up alpine meadows, does that mean that all quadders are bad?

IF A FEW ASSHAT SNOWMOBILERS GO RIPPING UP PUBLIC ROADS, SLEDDING OUT OF BOUNDS, RIDING RECKLESSLY AND HARASSING WILDLIFE - DOES THAT MAKE US ALL BAD?

Your statements imply that there is a conspiracy within the RCMP that they will do what they want, when they want because they have the badges and the guns. Your ATTITUDE perpetuates the stereotype that if there is one bad apple in a group, the group must be bad and this if very bad for OUR image as snowmobilers. Your problem is with the INDIVIDUALS who you perceive have wronged you - take up your cause against them.

AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for the showing valor and honor at the ceremony in Tacoma today!

Ignoring the previous crap! I agree. These people put their lives on the line everyday for us. Really sorry about the four brave souls that lost their lives in the line of duty! I'm proud of all the forces joining together to pay their respects. Well done!! :rose:

Nothing I need to add to this, except, that's what I was thinking.

too bad they SUCK!! if you lived in b.c., or have been following the news up here, you'd know what i mean...4 of them can murder a polish immigrant at YVR, and not be held accountable....one of the same 4 can hit and kill a motorcyclist after he had been drinking, and all he's facing is a charge of obstruction of justice....where is the justice???just ask the families of the victims...i, for one, have lost all repect for these clowns, and want nothing to do with them....i'm pretty sure that if any of you reading this were to have a few drinks, get into your car (in his case a jeep), and hit and kill a motorcyclist, you'd have a lot more on your plate than a simple obstruction of justice charge, don't you think???

Nowhere does the law say you can't have a couple drinks and then drive. It says you cannot be intoxicated. Sounds like your "facts" as you later state are just opinions.

Wrong

Zero tollerance in Canada. They smell booze 24 hr suspension. The RCMP thing , tell the people of Smithers.

the guy FAILED the breathylizer test...read the news, buddy...oh yeah, you're not from around here....

You know what? I apologize. I was only going by what you wrote that he had been drinking, I didn't know he failed the breathylizer. But here is the hangup: When there is an ammount of time between an accident and the time the tests are administered, probable cause is questionable, and "beyond reasonable doubt" won't be there. I'm not sure what the burden of proof is in Canada but I'm assuming it's close to what we have in the US. As an officer I've seen this time and time again when people get off because of this. I'm not going to comment on what this officer SHOULD get, because I still don't have all the facts. But I'm definitely open to the fact that he's getting off on a technicality. If he is.....it sickens me. Someone earlier wrote that we shouldn't judge all by the acts of one or even a few. I also stand behind that. I believe in law enforcement and the officers who sacrifice. I'm sorry for what you have been through and I'm sure it leaves a sour taste in your mouth. But I know for a fact that the majority of officers both in the US and Canada do what we do to actually make this place better. There will always be the exception.

a new public opinion poll on the evening news said that 37% of british columbians DON"T trust the rcmp, 46% don't believe the senior management of the rcmp will do the right thing to police themselves, and 47% don't believe the contract with the rcmp should be renewed in 2 yrs when the contract is up for renewal...this on global news at 6.....clearly, i'm not alone in my opinions.....for those of you that were bashing me for voicing my opinions.....just thought you all might want to know....:beer;

Nonetheless klubbo, the intention of this thread was to THANK the 1,000 RCMP who made the trek to Tacoma, WA to march in showing pride, dignity and honor and to pay their respect to 4 officers assasinated. It was a sight to behold.
