Rattle Can Hood????

I
I bought a 96 rmk 500, paint is sunfaded, snowmobile is not worth having a paint shop paint the hood, so I'm going to rattle can it, I know it's not the best thing to do, but the snowmobile doesn't hold much value. Any tips?

A buddy of mine did the rattle can job to his gf 97 500. Came out pretty good. He used a rustolium metallic paint from home depot. He just sanded it down smooth, cleaned it up and put I think 3 coats plus a clear coat on it. Heres a pic of how his turned out.

I did one on a 98 Summit 670 hood. It was Lexan, it looked good for a while but then it started to flake off and crack once the hood started flexing! But, a little sandpaper and another 10 bucks for cans of paint you are good to go!

You could also use that paint that they use for those little RC cars with the thin Lexan shells. It stands up to flexing way better but it costs more! The cans are really little and it takes 6-8 of them to do a sled hood.

Krylon makes a rattle can paint just for plastics (indoor and outdoor). The only problem that I have had with the paint coming off is where the cover rubs. The hoods were aftermarket lexan.

Any paint will do that!
