RATCHET TIE DOWNS... DOES ANYONE MAKE ONE THAT IS WORTH A DAMN??

I have been looking for RATCHETING Tie downs with standard rubber coated hooks and 1 to 1.25" Heavy duty webbing.

I'm not looking for the big, "clunky" 2" wide straps either... the 1" wide is what I'm looking for with Rubber coated standard hooks that you can put around a tube or handlebar.

The ones that I've seen available are stamped out of thin sheet metal and not really worth using IMO.

Do any of you have sources for true top notch RATCHET style tie downs that will hold up to abuse and cranking down on them???

This is the style in the pic below that I'm looking for... BUT... I want something that will hold up for years of use. I've ordered many from the internet that claim "thicker metal construction than our competitors"... well you know how that worked out.

Let me know... any help is much appreciated.

This is an example of the style hooks but this one is made from thin sheet metal.

Thank you Dave.. I'll look into that at the dealer here...

Anyone else??

The ones I have I have had for about 7 years. They came from a Peterbilt dealer. They are the heavy ones you described the ratchets are twice as think or better than the ones you've posted. The straps are also thicker as well.

You guys ROCK!!

These are the types that I'm looking for...another member PM'd me and said Macs tiedowns... are they any good?

I use the 1 1/2" "TRUCKER STYLE" with a handle. I get them from work but don't know who the vendor is but most of our stuff comes from Grainger.

I had mine made at a shop that makes lifting harnesses for cranes, construction equipment and truck tie downs. Much cheaper than store bought and made to whatever length you want. They are 1" wide, but about 2/3 times as thick. I also had D rings added on each strap so I can loop around a frame and back to itself. Makes for a better connection and no scratches/damage from the metal hooks. Getting a cutom length also gets rid of the long strap tails you see flapping down the road.

I would talk to Kathy at Specialty Slings, They supply alot of the plants in our area with lifting slings and straps and I believe she makes them for macs hardware. She can also custom make whatever you need. She has made me ratchet straps and wheel tie downs for our race car. Great Quality and Great Price.
