Smoked a belt hardcore and messed up my primary clutch.
So I go to get it pulled so i can ship it to indy dan to get rebuilt.

One problem.

I don't have a clutch puller.
so what?
Just go buy one. There only 45 bucks.
Another problem.
EVERY PLACE IN NORTHERN COLORADO AND SOUTHERN WYOMING IS CLOSED ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY.
With one exception.
G-force Powersports is open. Of cource they don't have the puller (just my luck). They could take my clutch off for me, except it would take me so long to go get the sled, get down there and back to UPS that I couldn't get it all done in time to mail out anyway.

GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, rant over.

there is prolly a bolt that will thread into your clutch.....us fine or metric depending on sled......top the hole off with grease....thread the bolt in. the hydaulic pressure will pop the clutch off. if you get close to bottoming the threads, pull it and add grease.

You could just take the sled to Felkers in Loveland...............

Felkers only does Ski-doo. They don't have a puller for a polaris.

They did aim me at a place that did have one.
Got it pulled and shipped out.
Thanks for the felkers tip.

I don't think you could pull this off with anything other than the correct puller. It was on there pretty good.:D

sweet idea with the grease...that really works??

It works on sled clutches and stubborn pilot bearings in flywheels. My dad showed me that trick when I was a kid. I didn't really get it at the time but it sure worked. Back in the day, alignment tools were metal and he would stick it in there and smack it a few times and the bearing would pop out.

Stuff a bunch of rope down one of the cylinders through the spark plug hole, even better to do both.

Pistons cannot compress, you dont need no stinkin puller!

That is what we used to do with a 1970 Skidoo Nordic 399 and it worked when we could not find the puller............

Oh make sure you get all the rope back out!

Not recommended, but it would work in a pinch........

It's funny that you're dealing with this too. I'm rebuilding a sled for my girlfriend and all I'm waiting on to get the motor out of the old sled and put it in the new one is a yamaha clutch puller but the only yamaha dealer around here is closed Sunday and Monday. Frustrating. I know the dealers want time off too but it seems that when people break things over the weekend they want to get the parts on order Monday so the sled will be fixed by the following weekend.

I hear you Ollie.

I bent my D7 up pretty good at the beginning of December. Ordered $960 in Polaris parts and just got the last shipment into my office today. I know it was the holidays, but wow! It was tough missing all those powder days. Pretty sure I put on weight waiting you know.

If I have a sled go down, i will rent a sled rather than sit at home if there is good snow.

Once you have the rope in the cylinder, what makes the clutch come off?

You have to stick a pry bar through the clutch and it spins off. I have seen this done before. Good trick:D
