I will post the whole story later but the long and short of it is that she crashed hard in a gully and broke her hip and femur.
She is in the hospital and doing well, in surgury right now, I saw her and Idaho Slim earlier and both were in good spirits and waiting for her turn in the OR. She was really glad to be warm.
The important thing is to give Snojo and Idaho Slim some sledder support right now. It is very hard to see your friend or loved one in pain.
We were able to get her out via helicopter in about 1.5 hours, relatively quick for a backcountry rescue.
She was riding with me and my wife and Dam Dave. Idaho Slim took a pass on account of his sled wreck on saturday in IP.
We did have space blankets and a bivy sack ( thanks to Dam Dave ), food, water, etc.
Local search and rescue showed up but I will say this: SLEDDERS BE PREPARED TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN!!! ( Not bashing S and R so don't start any BS )
Like I said I will post the whole story later but this ordeal was sucessful due to preparedness, knowledge of the local area, KNOWLEDGE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY SUPPORT SERVICES, and my friend and co-worker TW who did a great job getting in there with the helicopter, and as always A GOOD DOSE OF LUCK.
Thanks also to the two local sledders who stepped up and helped out, I don't know their names but they pitched right in and didn't quit till the deal was done, makes you happy to see this kind of attitude.
I will quit for now it has been a long day. Send your best to Jo and Slim.
Matt.
