I just picked up an new sled (new to me) and it has SLP heads that are 14:1 compression ratio. SLP tech guy told me I need to run a mix 20% race gas 110 octane to 80% 91 octane. Where are you guys buying your race gas and what price are you paying? I am in Salt lake City any info would help thanks!

I'm pretty sure i have a good source for my race gas this year, but.....

Where would i go to pick up a barrel or two....i left a message with the SLC VP rep.....no call back. How much is a 55 gal of 110 these days?

That fuel place next to butterfield lumber in Midvale, it a Sinclare...Crap I hate getting old.

Its called Dal Soglio. 700 West and 7400 South. In Midvale. Easy access to I-215 and I-15. They have several octane levels and you can get it by the can if you want. Bring your onw jug. Prices reflect a non-bulk quantities ( $$$) Tel is 255-9221

You could go out to Miller Motorsports park kart track and talk them in to ordering you some. Maybe the local kart stores would help you out, try M2 karting. I am going to run 100ll.

contact shane, product tester. Should be right around $320 a barrel for VP 112 or sunoco 110...

i might have a hook up on some 91 octane pump gas for around $2.80 a gallon. PM me for details. My hook up has limited quantities available. Bring your own containers...

thanks for the info phatty, skibumm should pull through in the next few days/weeks and he's my hook up for the bulk stuff, thinking i better atleast get 4 barrels:confused:.....i was just looking for a barrel if the snow comes down somewhere near pinedale wy

Thanks for the info guys. what's your opinion on running 100LL? If I do the math 91 x 80%=72.8 + 110 x 20%= 22 so 72.8+22=94.8 I figure SLP wants me to be around 95 octane.

Now doing some research 100LL has a diff octane rating but in the aviation rotax engine manual it states when mixing gas: 100LL has a 104 MON and 108 RON so by the same formula as the 91 at the pump which is ROM+MON/2 108+104/2= should have around a 106 equivilant rating.

So if I used 100LL 30% x 106=31.8 70% x 91=63.7
that should yield a (31.8+63.7)= 95.5 octane rating

Is that correct?

should I just use race gas or try 100LL?

the only thing with 100ll is that it is a very dry fuel.. has caused people problems in the past (however unsure on how they were mixing it).. I would personally stick with the race gas
It does work great in the 4 stroke turbos though ran 100% 100ll at 18lbs..

you should be able to do about 1300-1400 miles on 4 drums of race fuel.
Enjoy! and breath deeply! race fuel is the best!

What octane?

I am having a turbo Apex (Impulse non race kit) built for my surrogate son(lives in Baltimore, plays for the Ravens) who comes back to Utah to ride about 4 times a year. Probably puts on about 400-500 miles per year. What octane /fuel should he run in Paul's kit w/head shim and about 14 lbs boost? How much fuel should I get for him? Thanks all.

Larry....I'd at least use 50/50 mix in the Apex. Let me talk to WFO, or pm him about what he runs in his Apex.

If run race over aviation fuel! Much safer and more formulated for what we do with our sleds.

If a group decides to buy, I would like to get in if I may.

Thanks
