Rabbit Ears Ridding Area..Any Reports?

I am headed up to my cabin at Rabbit Ears village on Thursday and will post what I find. From what I hear we only got about 16" at the bottom of the pass in the village.

I rode ears last Saturday and buff last sunday. Buff was way better! You have to be careful at both but more so at rabbit ears. Snow was probably waist deep up higher and only maybe a foot at the parking lot. There's a storm warning for this weekend coming so things can change fast. As it is now, I would make the 3 hour drive to buff pass to ride it how it is (I'm in Cheyenne).

Rabbit Ears looks real thin from 40. Lots of tracks from those with the A-arm sponsorship's. We rode out buff pass and stuck to the road. With that said the coverage on the road was good.
The storm this weekend should really help both areas.

Big group of us rode Sunday and the only casualty was an aftermarket Cat spindle on one sled. That being said, I'm staying home this weekend.

I don't have an A-arm sponsor yet, and I put too much $$$ into my sled to center punch a rock on the first ride. I might go check things out on Thanksgiving weekend.

I usually roll up to Rabbit Ears and park at the Muddy Creek area, mostly because I don't have any sled buddies here and I can always start BSing with people in the parking lot and find some good guys to ride with.

I've heard a lot about the Buff Pass area. Where is this in relation to the Muddy Creek area? Are there usually quite a few people up there? I go to places I know will be inhabited with other sledders because I'm not dumb enough to ride alone.

Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids. If you have just "heard" about buffalo pass, I'd stay away from there and stick to your rabbit ears. Search and rescue would sure appreciate it. Never mind that the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow has ended a few lives there.

Awesome. Thanks. I "heard" about Rabbit Ears, and I "heard" about all the other place I've ever ridden too.
I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at.

Buff pass is north of rabbit ears

Thanks, shelb.
Maybe I should re-phrase the question. I know where Buff Pass is, like in relation to Rabbit Ears/Steamboat. I guess I was asking where, specifically, the ideal/bestest place to park and find other riders, might be.

I have a buddy in Craig who is familiar with the area. He said he'd show me. I'll make sure we have search and rescue on standby.

That was really a lame response… Shoot a guy down because he's asking about a location? Salty sledders….

Ya you're a douchebag. I'm sure you came out of the womb knowing every inch of every riding area in the nation. Must be nice. Makes sense you ride a Yammy.

We rode buff pass Sunday. Blizzard conditions , no base, deep snow. Typical first early season ride at buff pass.

It was really snowing hard, even on the drive home it was dumping on rabbit ears. By the end of this storm things should be looking really good.

PArk on RE or the Walden side, PLEASE!

First and most importantly, I'm all about everybody riding and I'm not looking to keep something that's not mine to myself.

Let's lay out out a scenario here, shall we. Let's say you live in the fine town of SBS or in the county for that matter. You leave your house, drive ten minutes to the Buff parking lot and it's full of trucks and trailers owed by people who drove an extra hour to park at "Buff" and the forrest service guys tell you, who lives here, to go to RE and park because the lot is full. My guess is, the first thing out of your mouth would be, WTF! The majority of these trucks and trailers drive right past the turn off to Walden and the multiple parking lots on RE Pass. Please be respectful to those of us who live in Routt County that want to use the ever so convenient parking lot that is really close to our houses.

I personally can't understand the logic to drive an extra hour to park in that really small parking lot with a big trailer when Buff is at most, a twenty minute ride from the summit of RE Pass.

I'm really not a jaded SBS resident, because if people weren't coming here to ride and spend their money, I wouldn't have a job. So, please keep coming to SBS to ride, just don't take your big trailer, that takes up 5 + parking spaces in the small parking lot, to "Buff" just so you can say, "we rode Buff today!".

Also, the majority of the people who ride that live in SBS don't even take trailers up there, so we have more room to park. I know guys in town that take their sleds out of their trailers and truck them up there just for that reason.

PLEASE PEOPLE, I'M BEGGING YOU FOR MYSELF AND ON BEHALF OF THE REST OF THE SBS RIDERS THAT DO NOTHING BUT B!TCH ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.

Eh... maybe he was drinking like I was when I typed my semi-snarky response. All is forgiven.

That's good news, bro. I heard that there was more snow at Buff than Rabbit ears, and the trail between the two was impassable... thusly my interest in Buff. Heading up this weekend to see what's what.

I totally understand where you're coming from. We (Alaskans) hated tourists and lower 48'ers cramming up every parking lot within miles to go fishing and eff up our rivers. Understood. Rabbit Ears parking lot gets ridiculous with trailers and bullsh*t. Hell, last year there was a guy who set up a makeshift propane powered hot tub. it was actually kind of cool.
BTW, I always load my sled in my truck because trailering is just a pain in the ***.

I don't hate tourists, they pay my bills. Haha. But, in recent years, because of forums like this, "BUFF" is the cool place to park.
