Rabbit Ears/Buff Pass

Me and 7 other guys are planning a trip to steamboat to ride rabbit ears and buff pass around the end of February or first part of march. I was wondering what the riding conditions are and if RE/BP got any snow last weeks storm? What is the base? Also wondering where some more good places are to ride in Colorado?

Who knows? Depends on the weather and what falls from the sky. It's day by day.

I was a few miles South of RE today and it was nothing but sugar. You stopped and you were done. Absolutely no base.

We didn't get any snow from the last few storms to hit Colorado. There are people climbing hills that slid in the last few weeks now. The snow has settled some (the stake is at 5') and the snow is not cracking/sliding like it was but it is not too stable either. There are spots with untracked snow but the trails, parking lots, and the climbing hills visible from the parking lots are tracked up. Guess that is where most people ride.

happy wife...happy life

now back to talking about sledding and snow conditions

LOL. She's stuck working graveyards for the Sheriff. Nothing I can do to make her happy with that. Any ideas??

And it has not snowed in NWCO for going on 2 weeks.

Any ideas??

Sell all your expensive toys and let her stay at home with her kids....bet that would make her happy.

Step up to the plate and prioritize what is important and make it happen.

Then when you can really afford it, spend what extra you have on yourself.

Then I'm unhappy. Double edged sword right there. Hopefully this damn shift change will only go for another week or so.

See, sitting at home all weekend doesn't cut it for me. I like getting out and pushing it. Now that I have the boys into it makes it even more important to me. See, I do what you do, sort of. I spend my Summers/Fall at home doing yardwork, shooting arrows and teaching the boys (yep, I can do that in my yard. Rural life does has advantages), And now that they are into bikes I take them. Parker is now able to ride fast enough to follow and ride beginner trails. Hunter, I'm not sure yet. But he is ballz to the wall on his sled. I take Parker in the woods with me to go hunting/scouting. I take them fishing and now that we have an RV, we camp. So I do alot of family stuff in the warmer months and try to spend the few colder months doing what I enjoy. Personally, I don't see an issue with that, nor do I see it as being selfish. Getting out and riding my hardest Fri and Sat and then taking the boys on their sleds Sunday.

april

I have a trip planned out there the first week of april. i know there is no way of telling for sure, but i am wondering if anyone can give me some insight on what to expect. Do they still receive snow into april? what are the conditions generally like, etc etc.
Thanks.

RE snow

Rode Sat. 2' of new wet snow-lot of untracked areas.

Rode Monday 2'-3' of fresh champagne powder on top of the 2' from Sat.
Had to keep the throttle pegged all day-unbelieveable riding-best of the season

Still snowing Tuesday when we went over the pass heading home
