Quickest route?

I want to access the Manastash Ridge area near Quartz peak.

What route is the quickest to access? It looks to me like the Woods and Steele park, then up the 4510 approximately 9 miles... at the 4510 / 3300 intersection head SW on 3300, then cut out cross country a for a couple miles S then E. Anybody take this route?

PM me if necessary!

thanks

Quickest is from the Manastash sno-park...Take the 31 (S. Fk. Mannastash) past Buck Meadows and straight there....

I think you're coming from Ronald and probably don't want to trailer around, then modify your route slightly.

Woods/Steel - make a left just before the top of hill and go to five corners. The 119 and then pick up the route you mention.......Or, if you know someone in Sky Meadows that would let you park:

Out of Sky Meadows, Cedar Creek and then Shadow Creek to Tamarck Springs and start heading west......Just need snow...

X2 right along with LCE. But VE if you want to try your aformentioned route, FSR 3300 will take you up towards the headwaters of the North Fork of Taneum Creek as it follows along the valley floor gradually climbing in elevation. At or around 4 miles up FSR 3300 You will come to a "y" and you should take a left. This road (do not know the road #) will head you in a SW direction and will gradually climb elevation. About a mile or so after the "y" there will be a turnout to the right or uphill side of the road. This logging road spur (and do not know this ones road #) will take you close to the top of Peaches Ridge. That logging spur will take you SW along the ridge and will eventually intersect with Manastash Ridge bringing you to within a stones throw of Quartz Mountian to the South. You will know when you get to Manastash ridge as there is a profound drop off into Quartz Creek within the Little Naches Drainage. From along Manastash Ridge you will have to pick your way along the ridge until you come to FSR 3100 and Quartz Mountain.

WHEREDAFUGAWEE .......Bingo! That is the route I'm talking about. Was wondering if thats a common route? Ive been up there during hunting season and it looks like some fun riding up there. I don't see why it can't / hasn't been done. Already have the maps printed / laminated!!

Anyone done it?

May have to give it a go this Sunday!

How much time / miles of road riding does it take coming in this way? It looks like 15 or more miles of roads? How beat down does it get up there towards the top of Manastash ridge? the topo looks great... is it real popular up there?

thanks all! :beer;

i doubt there is enough snow now but i'd like to do that route too. The manastash is fun riding when there is enough snow. I would like to go in a few weeks if anyone is down for then.

I've been riding out of Sky Meadows for 20+ years and would recomend Lake Cle Elums route(s). I have dirt biked the other way and made the connection, however this route is not groomed during the winter months and the road becomes sidehills and snow drifts (take a look at the topo, it's can get pretty nasty in a few spots). It is pretty easy to lose your way and end up where you don't want to be. There is some great riding on both routes, but I wouldn't count on making the connection back up to Frost and Quartz from the West during the winter.

Manastash Sno-Park to Quartz is 17 miles....All Groomed FS Road....Last year the grooming was great; we have a new groomer this year.

Hey, you asked the "Quickest route". I think this would be it.....Regarding the one you suggest; like Elliot sez, some steep sidehilling in there. Hardly any snow right now, if you go this week, please let us know how it goes....I've done that kind of route on a dirt bike, but not the sled...

Good play areas out toward Quartz, but not all are real obivious.......Have fun....

Do You Like A Challenge?

VE i rode that route that i mentioned on my last post towards the end of the 2007 sledding season so that route was manageable and as Elliot suggested there can and probably will be some possibly exteme sidehilling and drifts whenever we get some good snow but it sounds like your are the type of rider that likes a challenge.... play it safe though. Just as others have posted, the fastess way is FSR 3100. Have Fun.
