I just purchased a slp pipe kit for my 09 m8. I've been trying to search for clutching set-ups. How is the clutching set-up slp suggests. I want to set it up for the Snowies. So far I've came up with a slp 40/36 helix, rock rollers, and stock sec. spring. In the primary it seems that some say a cat gold spring? Others say speedwerx 125/340 spring and cat 68 gram weights. Someone educate me on what I need (or think I need) for this to work. Have to try and keep up with a ski-don't;) Thanks, Clint

I also just purchased a pipe for my sled. I installed a SLP blue/pink spring which is a 140/340 spring in the primary, 68g cat weights, d&d shift assist, and a 40/36 helix. I havnt rode with that setup yet but ill let you know when i do. Im going the end of the month to yellowstone. I would PM iluv2fly he really seems to know his stuff! Check out this link, there is a couple diff suggestions on it. http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=175805&highlight=slp

I have been running the same set up as you mentioned, you may have read my post on here. I have run the 125/340 speedwerx and 68's , good set up.
i have now installed the cat 70's and the 125/340 spring, just to see if it will pull harder than the 68's., hope to ride this weekend in the snowies to try it out. you will like the 68's as a base set up. pulls 8k RPM. RickM

Riding elevation

I mainly ride the snowies, which is around 11K, give or take,

I ran the 70's last year with the stock pipe and they worked good.

rickm

So is the speedwerx 125/340 spring better then the slp 120/340 or the 140/340? Or are they all about the same? The 140/340 spring would engage higher then the 120-125 /340 springs correct. How would that compare with the stock spring?

You know I am starting to wonder why so many guys are selling these. I saw 2 new listings in the swapmeet for guys that were switching them back to stock. Why?

question from 80arrow?
So is the speedwerx 125/340 spring better then the slp 120/340 or the 140/340? Or are they all about the same? "RickM,I cant say better, because different company measure springs at different compression heights."

ques from 80 arrow,The 140/340 spring would engage higher then the 120-125 /340 springs correct.YES,

How would that compare with the stock spring? "RickM ,The stock yellow/white is a 122/285 rate, about the same engagement RPM of 3600, but the 285 will give you a little less top end RPM.

hope this helps you out. I like the way the 125/340 H5 speedwerx spring works for me. I dont like a high engagement in deep snow. I am trying to run the 70's with the stiffer spring to see if I can get the 8000 RPM. RickM

I'm running stock clutching in the primary and secondary with the slp pipe. I just put in Cutler weights and adjusted the weight so that it is in the peak powerband on wide open throttle, about 8000-8100 rpm. The sled runs great and pulls hard. Save yourself some money and just adjust your weight in the clutch to get in your peak powerband, and it will run great. I ride in the Snowies all the time and I'm running about 69-71g weight. Arctic Cat still uses the same spring in the secondary but has changed the spring on the primary, so if I was going to change anything, I would just get the new Arctic Cat spring for the primary. The factory has it pretty well setup, the new spring in the primary gears the sled down a bit to help to help with boondocking.
