quick release helmet straps?

does anybody out there use a quick release system on their helmet straps?
i have a fly helmet and the very end of the strap is getting a little frayed and its a pain to tread through the D rings.

is there a certain one out there that is better than the rest? did some searching but couldn't find any good reviews. looking to buy something this week.

I use them on all my helmets. Can't remember what brand but most sports shops around here seem to carry the same one. Much more convenient although can be tough to clip with larger gloves once the fingers get frozen or stiff. Easy on, easy off action instead of trying to get the strap through every time you put your helmet on. Very durable and cheap. Test it out with your head sock on or whatever you wear under the helmet to get it cinched up snug enough. After a few rides I will adjust it a little tighter as it seems to work back out slightly over time.

(MODS - Could prob move this into General since not avy related)

You shouldn't need to undo the strap from the d rings, I never do. Grab the little pull tab attached to the one d ring and pull it to the left and fully loosen the strap without undoing it. Pivot the strap to the front of the helmet by the chin guard (there should be plenty of slack) and take the helmet off. Then for on, you just grab the end of the strap and pull tight... no fiddling when its cold out. super easy on and off and I often don't even need to take my gloves off.

Plastic clips can break, d rings don't.

Also a pretty fail safe way ^^^^. BTW, def stay away from plastic clips. The ones I get I'm pretty sure are all metal, never had a failure. Can't say it won't happen, but never has to me.

Didnt even know they made metal ones. Just assumed you meant plastic... my bad.

So thats what that little red strap is for that I was going to cut off. Ill try it. Thanks

I've got the Echo Quick Release straps on both my helmets. A lot easier than messing with the D ring.

Yes ^^^^. Echo quick clips FTW. Can swap them out to different helmets so nothing has to be modified or ruined. Never seen that other on, but it looks like a pain to use.

Yep! Helmets are designed for this on/off process these days. Its why the strap you loop through seems so long, but its meant to be long enough to not undo itself when you pull on the little tab.

I have tried some of these so called quick release buckles. Only problem is try to unsnap when they are full of snow/ice and frozen.
