quick question on recoil

I have my spring back in and I have got everything back together ...now my question is how many revolutions should I wind up that spring before feeding the rope in ..I did about 3 and a 1/4 and then fed my rope in. the thing took up about 3 ft of rope or so and then left me with about 8 inches on the outside which I will pull up the tube to the handle. sound right or should the recoil be even tighter?

you want it so that when you yank the rope all the way out, it doesnt bind the spring before the handle is all the way out, or it has a tendancy for the rope to stick out, just wind it as tight as you can so the knot on the inside is pulled straigh even with the outlet of the cover, and there is no binding. Its a real pain when the chord sits dangling, mine was wound wrong, so i would have to sit there and rev the motor to shake it loose unbind.
