Ok, so pops just called saying hes going to go buy a 08 800 xp 146 over lunch. Kinda some sweet news cause we trade sleds a lot and this will be better than his 01 mountain cat.

What do I need toask the dealer before we walk out the door with it? Crank issues, what is needed for the fix? Something about hand warmers, and isn't there a different belt to get?

Anything else?

Time is crucial..... BIG rep slaps for anyone who helps me here, just don't want to get it and find out later it needs a lot of work...

Sorry, I know there is a search function and I know how to use it, but crunched for time here with work also, to many threads to search and read through in the time I have...

Thanks again

I would ask the dealer if all the updates/recalls have been done on the sled.
Some of them are, handwarmers, gauge reflash, driveshafts (all 08's are suppose to be replaced, but most likely you will have to wait until they get the parts), talk of coolant and oil tank recall, belt (377), and clutch alignment. Thats all that I can think of right now. Don't know if this helped you any, but I do know that your dad won't be disappointed in the sled!

Skidoo will be covering the belts, gearing change, hand warmers and driveshaft for the 08's under warranty again this year so just get those covered and you got one of the best sleds ever.

Polaris - If the dealer plays dumb on the bulletin, tell him it's officially out now. It's bulletin #2009-1 and was released on 10 SEPT 08. I do not have a copy of it though. Insist that you're put to the front of the line on the replacement since you're buying a leftover.

Good luck!

Haha, even if he says it is updated I will ask him on the bulletin just to see how honest the dealer is. We know the guys, so hopefully the salesman aren't a reflection of our friends in the business world...

Well, just got back, and they had NO CLUE about the recall. Made them look it up haha. Just seemed a little odd that all the recalls and updates are done already, and they are still in the crates....

What would be a fair price for that sled, a 08 800xp 146, they quoted it at 8675 with the extended warranty.

Rob, get a 19t gear installed, handwarmers should have been done already. Get him to GIVE you a couple of the 377 belts.

Don't let him lie to ya about the drive shaft. Those won't arrive at any dealers until October. I do have a copy of the bulletin, so I know for a fact!

Edit: ALL drive shafts on the 08 Summit XPs are getting recalled. It's impossible that the shaft recall has been taken care of, no dealers even have the part yet. And each dealer will only be getting 2-3 shafts each week for the next 4 to 9 weeks! Don't let him fool ya!

Is that price OTD with tax, setup, the whole shabang?
No tax or anything, thats what he said for a price and I'm sure he will throw in the setup for free cause we are in the same car club. Haha, salesman brought us a price and we told him to go rerun some numbers or we were leaving, owner got mad at the "deal" his salesman presented..so went and sat with him and he gave us some brews and talked over prices for us. Not a bad lunch haha.

This was also with the current promoton that was going, giving us the extended warranty and used the $200 in accessories towards the price.
