Quick Drive = Reduced braking ???

Switched from a 12 to a 14 and did an easy 30 mile break in ride. First thing I notice was it sure seems like the barking is not as responsive as my 12 with the chain drive. Anyone else feel this way? Eric

So dose anyone else feel like the braking performance has been reduced with the belt drive over the chain case?

I will have more chances to ride a 14 and 12 back to back this year so I can do more testing. Eric

I never felt any difference braking, but the performance is much better on my 13.:face-icon-small-hap

I don`t know about the difference between pro`s but I am happy to be back on a jackshaft brake over any trackshaft brake I had before.

Way stronger.

Rode 50+ miles off trail today in a wide range of snow conditions. This thing SUCKS coming down hill. Never felt so out of control coming down hill before. Unless Im pushing a foot of powder coming down its a wild ride. Doesn't matter if im pumping the brakes, steady of the brake or working the throttle and the brakes.

How much does rear suspension effect down hill braking? I'm 180lb with gear on and never adjusted anything on my 12 Pro and it worked great. This sled is still at factory settings and is kind of a wheelie machine right now.

I need to get this working better! Eric

Maybe the 13/14's are different but my 12 engine-brakes beautifully on big descents. I don't use the brake at all unless I want to use reverse to dig into the hill (for photography or helping a stuck sled)

It will do that if everything is just right but that's not the problem most of the time. Im talking about tree riding or when you turn out after a climb. A few times it was everything I could do to not hit a tree. Eric

I switched tracks on one brand I had for this. But you have the same track as before.

Maybe there is a brake problem since it is a new sled. Can you lock the track anytime you want?

I will try and take a look at things tomorrow and see whats going on. At one point I had the right side panel open cooling off the quick drive belt and noticed the brake rotor is very scored already. There is grooves you can catch with your finger nail. It looks like a brake rotor that has been run metal to metal with worn out pads. Something IS NOT right. Eric

I think my 13 brakes as well or better than my 2011. my 2014 brakes the same also/ the 5.1 doesn't brake that great coming down hills, but that should be the same 2012-2013. I'd bet it checked out cause your the only one I've heard with this issue.

Very well could be something in the master or slave, not allowing full pressure, as well as maybe causing them to drag a little... Foreign object, improper or poor assembly. Something has to be screwy with it, I can lock my 12 up with a slight finger pull, and I wouldn't think any change on the 13+ should create a drastic difference.

Have you bled it yet? (I think bleeding is a dealer setup item)

As someone else said the stock track has horrible braking traction. Camo Extreme is worlds apart in that department. Something must be wrong with your brake system. I've never seen a brake setup on a pro thats even looked used at all. Where do you ride? I know flatlanders use their brakes alot more than guys that live in the mountains but even then I don't think those guys are replacing brake components too often

I had an Assault 011 and the Quickdrive rolls Super free so I think it just takes more effort to stop it, my 013 has over 3400 miles on it now only half of that out west. I did switch to 2.5 Camo Extreme full clip right away though it is an awesome track runs way cooler .
