Quick 900 question...

local dealer that i always deal with tells me (now after 5 years) that on my 06 900 i should be mixn 1.5oz oil to every 4L of gas! also to run octane booster in with my preminum at 2200ft (where we live) does this sound true? i only got 1000 miles so i dont have enuff mileage to know. i felt the sled used quite a bit of oil as it is. thanks for any input.

I know alot of guys....myself included, that run 8oz per tank premixed.

It saved me a burndown..........after my new top end went in, a unknown air bubble developed in the oil line......I burned almost no oil on a 60 mile trip.

We had put a pint of oil in the tank to help with the top end break in, that's the only thing that saved me.

Ever since, I've run 8oz per tank.

Just sayin......

Do you need it - No

Is it a bad idea - No

Can it help if the oil pump fails - Sure

It's not a bad idea to pop the hood a few times throughout the ride if for no other reason than to 'take a quick look' at things... you never know what you might happen to spot:face-icon-small-win

It's also common belief that our oil injection doesn't lubricate the rings as well as it should... I run a bit of oil in every tank for this reason.

For break in its a must after a 1000 miles........maybe
Never had any reason to add extra in 3900 miles but I may now.

indydan HIGHLY recommends adding aprox 11oz per tank of fuel...and said he will NOT cover any TM crank he builds if its related to "not" adding the oil...

i have since been adding the oil this season and will continue.... ;)

interesting. service guy at the dealer said thats wat he recomends cuz of the way the injectors spray on the crank ends, that it washes the oil off. mmmmmm. also how much oil u guys burning on a tank of fuel?

So basically......1 oz to every gallon?

128 fl oz per gallon X 11 gals = 1408 fl oz / 11 fl oz =128 :1

I'm adding about 13oz (400ml) to every tank, about 100/1 ratio

128 fl oz per gallon X 11 gals = 1408 fl oz / 13 fl oz = 108:1

Is my math wrong? EDIT:It seems my math was wrong...I stand corrected.
