Your choices are steamboat lake, rabbit ears and buffalo pass. All three would be a good choice. Buffalo pass is the highest and usually has better snow if that becomes an issue. But it doesn't have a really great trail system and the parking is very tight. Rabbit ears is the most popular place to ride in Colorado. It has a good trail system and is well maintained. Steamboat lake is about 30 mins in the other direction. It has a lot less use so you'd be likely to have it more to yourself. It is the lowest elevation so if the snow is questionable it might not be worth the trip. There is a nice lodge at steamboat lake if you have the family along. It's ride in/ride out, right off the highway. All three areas are an easy commute from steamboat.
