OK so i have a 06 m6 with a bored out 700 in it and it runs the stock 800 pistons in it. motor is ported and runs a bmp pipe mod. motor runs about 160-165 hp. right now i'm running 75 grams in the primary with a yellow spring and a 44/40 helix and a green spring in the secondary.

motor will pull straight to 7800 and creep to 8000 on a long run at around 2000 ft alt. also running a 144x2 camo challenger. just wondering what you guys would suggest to run in alt. of 6000+ and also 9000+. thanks in advance.

i was thinkin 70 grams also and just wanted somebody else to chime in. wondering if you guys would think the staight cut 36 helix is a good idea also.

I also say 70's and a stiffer primary spring, probably the orange/white and you should be good unless your riding at over 9k. I also really like the straight 36 for the steep and deep, holds rpm well and backshifts good.

70s with a stiffer spring of some kind(in the 120/300-340 range)

The Orange white has too high of an engagement for my taste

44/40 might be a bit steep on the helix

I think something in the 40/36 or 42/36 would work better. Straight 36 if you have one laying around

i dont totally "get" clutch tuning but why does a person go to a lighter weight and a stiffer spring. i get the lighter weight as the motor can spin clutch tighter with less effort because of the loss in hp but what does the stiffer spring do exactly. in my mind i would think that you would go to a softer spring.

From my experience the stiffer spring has helped my sled hold rpm in the really deep and steep stuff. I have not seen a big increase in rpm from my 150/330, however, it does hold rpm much better when I increase elevation and get into the deep snow. I like mine much better. SLP has a 120/340 for those who like a low engagement.

i think i can kinda wrap my head around the stiffer spring idea. i assume it must counter the lighter weights and help to keep the clutch open longer before snapping back shut.

one more question though, why do my 70g weights have a number in front of the 70. mine say 671/70. what does that mean?

671 is just a part number. Remember the lighter the weights the more rpm it takes to close the primary.
