Question: Worst sled you've ever owned?

#1 07 Ski doo XRS--16 straight weeks to the dealer. Every time I would ride it the thing would go into limp mode. This is 3 weeks after I bought it. I would drop off on Monday and pick up Friday. Dealer couldnt duplicate it. Finally when I picked it up, the dealer loads up on trailer and it goes BEEP BEEP. The fix, ski doo told me they didnt know the problem and that they should have an answer for it next year. This was in early march. This is BRP headquarters. THe dealer screwed me because they didnt log it in everytime I dropped it off. The real fix, bah bye.

#2 08 Dragon 800 Ran awesome for the first two hundred miles. Then it would also go into limp mode. It did this for 1400 miles, dealer would give it a reflash and run great for 30 miles and then it wouldnt go over 6000 rpms. I have quite a few videos of that turd. Come to find out all 800 dragons in alaska had the same problem. Polaris used mine to test and finally bought it back last march. Few buddies I know have gotten different pistons but it still runs like poo. That was my first poo.

The dealer sold arctic cat as well. They gave me an M1000 162 sno pro and this is by far the best sled I have ever had. It is awesome. 1500 miles with slp pipe kit and not a single problem. Only 3 belts too.

92 indy 650

1992 indy 650 sks what a p.o.s,first ride 16.4 miles crank seperated, towed to trailer with 81 kawi drifter,to the dealer,7weeks to fix.made it the rest of the season, the next year crank went out 3 more times, luckily all was covered by warranty,1 set of pistons,I think that's it,never knew if it was going to make it home or not,my buddy marty bought the other 650 they had,1 serial # different than mine and his never had a problem.

78 Blizzard 6500 + ...had to do a lot of walking and my 81 srx 440 and then my 03 xlt ... wailed for a bit but ate cranks for breakfast.

'91 EXT. Never had to do anything internally to the engine, but everything else was crap. CDI, coil, voltage regulator, and anything else electrical. Going down the ditch about 60 mph, spring retainer breaks, and track stops suddenly. Another time going about 70mph, left side motor mounts broke and the clutches came together and destroyed both of them; I used a ratchet strap to get the engine back where it was supposed to be and managed to limp it home with half a secondary and a spider that was almost broken into. When in deep powder, you had to stop every now and then to chip the ice off the intake of the airbox.

93 EXT MNTN CAT,everything fell apart on this machine.Dealer was a great guy so we went Cat,what a mistake.Ride, and stop in at shop to pick-up parts so we could ride again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Had a great parts department though.

It was a 90 or 91 650 polarass sks crank after crank went out had cases centerline boord and everthing still, dont know where it ended up but its long gone. never own a polarass after that issue, well with a polarass motor that is lol!!!:beer;Team Hiline Brad!!

No doubt for me; 1994 Polaris 800 Storm SKS.
1. Pull rope
2. Snag ring
3. Pull top end
4. Put back together
5. Repeat steps 1 thru 4

Eventually took out the crank and sold a 2 year old sled for $1700.00 as is.

my friend has a Polaris 750 turbo...128 inch m-10....shocks were wrong calibration from the start....first engine blew due to oil pressure problem, so they gave him another new sled....fair enough.....then the alternator went bad, and the battery, and a coolant hose rubbed through way down by the heat exchanger behind the engine, then the crank seal leaked all over the clutch and belt, then the single ply track blew off the thing...all this **** happened while on the trail in Quebec way out in the bush where it ruins everybodys vacation....I forgot about the plastic coolant tee that melted to the muffler and the bad chaincase...good thing I only went on 2 trips with this idiot ...who still thinks this is a good sled...what a POS!!!

Its a toss up between the 2001 Summit ZX or the 2008 Summit XP X. More likely the XP. Nothing but a headache !

lets see i would say the 07 skidoo 800 xrs thing is a pile of chit its broke down all the time and had to almost give it awy to get rid of it. 4 motors. recoil twice.clucths 3 only 800 miles sold for 4500 in 08. and was never more happy to see it go. now its arctic cat havent had a thing go wrong and have 1500 miles this year oh what i put 2 belts i cant complain

97 MXZx 440....piston-aholic....Still have the old girl hiding in the shed....didnt want to swallow the loss on this old girl

My buddy bought a '05 900 RMK this year (after my forewarning) and I get into an argument with him every time he tells me he got "such a sweet deal."

The thing has been through everything from motor mounts a full electrical system......and its carburated!

POS!

worst sled, 98 powder special 600efi, thing ran so pig rich and no power to speak of, track didnt have one lug that wasnt at least half there, what suspension? and yeah like trying to boondock a lawnmower. only 2 stators and jackshaft bearing went out while climbin a little hill.

but for a first sled it got me hooked

07 xrs, original 800r made it to 4600km before mag side rod poked through the case and took out everything in its path. one chaincase, sled had 6700km on it now and on its 3rd belt, last one went 4000km, still my spare belt. love this sled tho

Worst sleds....

2001 Mountain Cat 800. I bought a Summit 800X and the MC 800 in the same year. The Cat was faster, but the Summit was a whole world better. I could catch a T-Cat in a drag, but not a Wildcat up the mountain! The Cat was out highmarked by my '91 Wildcat 700 with 144" track AND my hybrid pig ('95 ZRT 800 with 156" track...imagine that tank! But I still have it...) I had a primary clutch seize up with about 250 miles on it; adjustable shock "T" broke, making the sled wheelie-prone. The beast wouldn't climb, wouldn't turn out (was tail-heavy and couldn't adjust the ski pressure enough.) The skis sucked, especially when going downhill in powder. They would turn vertical, and the sled would violently rock back and forth and try to throw you over the bars. It was sad to be out-climbed by a buddy with a tweaked '95 Mt. Max 600.

Best sleds....
2001 Summit 800X 144". Sold it after two years and 2500 miles with no major problems. Still going!
1991 Wildcat 700. Finally gave it away last year. Sad to see it go, with 5400 miles. Lots of mods!
2003 Summit 800 HMX 159". Currently broken, but has been a fun ride over the years (3500 miles).

Without a doubt, 1981 Yamaha 440 SRX! Shut it off when it's warm and you're done till tomorrow....it's not gonna start. Three rides per piston. Two rides per set of clutch weights. Don't let it drop below 6000 rpm or you're not going anywhere.....couldn't clutch around it. Great lookin' sled though! My first liquid cooled sled, and it sent me back to fan cooled for a few years.

Second worst - 1972? Snojet 440. Just couldn't ever get a whole ride out of it.

Best - 05 M7
2nd best - 97 700 RMK

I've only owned 6 sleds but my 06 switchback 900 was a joke. paid $9900. had to put on about a grand in mods so it wouldn't eat belts and handle halfways decent. Then after burning down the motor and just being sick of buying belts i go the poo dealer and beg the guy to let me trade on a new sled. Wouldn't even take a one year old sled in trade. Finally sold it privately for $3300 after one season, and finding a buyer at that price was tough. could you imagine seeing a one year old crossfire or something on here today for 3300 and it not being snatched up right away?

96 Ultra RMK....nothing else is even close....even after dumping $$$$ for
pipes, track, etc....Still just a heavy turd.....thank god the crank broke
and a cylinder went down....

Traded it off on a 97 700 RMK.....WOW how could 1 year make such a difference! I still have it and it has never let me down!
