Question on installing Powerclaw

Hey guys,

I did a search on here and it sounds like there are a few of you running the Powerclaw on the PRO. My question is, what needs to be done to install it? Once I swap drivers am I good to go? What drivers are you guys running and where did you get them? I have never owned a Polaris in my life, just Cats and Doos, but am hopefully picking up a PRO here in the near future and I will be installing the Claw. Thanks for the info.

Joe

Just drivers will do it-AVID makes a nice machined driver that works well for the Powerclaw on a Poo shaft. Your back axle adjustment will take up the minor difference in length from your current 163 to the Cat 162 track length.

AAAH OK, thats a tighter stretch-you'll need an inch or so of room in the front of the axle slot to pull it off-measure how much you have now with your 155. Typically, they will fit with the adjuster all the way forward and will soon stretch during your first ride or 2.

Hey AK! good to hear from ya. Doesn't look like I'll be up till summer-long story, wrong forum!. Dougs back at it and Johns finishing the last of his fleet as well...watch out Valdez!

I've got a 153 on my Pro, it's tight, but as mentioned loosens up after running awhile.

Yes, you will need to get different drivers, I got mine from Carls, cost about $200 or just a little more for both. You will also need a hydraulic press to put them on. I run the 90 duro on mine 2010 D8 and it is a tighter fit, will definitely take a few rides to get it streched out, but MUCH better then the 5.1 track. Heres a picture of the drivers.

A little off subject, but from my experience this winter, the pro doesn't need ANY other track. I out climb a 2010 m8 and it has more hp. Riding powerclaw m8's they seem to trench. This is my opinion, but I would try the 5.1 first. I did HATE this track on my prior dragons, but the duro may be stiffer on the Pro????? If it is or not, it still works very well.

^ I agree with that....I don't think there's anything wrong with either track, but from what I've seen installing the p-claw is just a lateral move....not worth the effort even if you had all the parts for free.

Well, I wont need to worry about installing the Powerclaw on my new sled, it's coming with it as standard equipment. Took the plunge and Snow Checked a new M800 SP in all white. I hope it's as fun of a sled as the RMK was that I rode out west last year. It was a tough decision but in the end it came down to my dealer. Nothing wrong with those RMKs though!! Hope to see some of you guys on the mountain next year to compare!!

300 people bought into the hype before they tried the sled with the OEM track which works everybit as well? That's what it tells me...YMMV.

I agree The powerclaw cats around here are not very impessive.... and in slow riding in trees they trench.

carls put about 300 pc on prormks whats that tell you?

It tells me two things. 1) After the sucess of the new CFI-2 they were fearing lost revenue on shop labor. 2) Possible fix? Have 300 people buy a $700 track, $200 drivers, and charge them 2.5-3 hrs of shop labor at $95 and hour to install them.

Kidding but really,

Been side by side with an Assault 55 with PC on it, my 55 has 5.1...Both sleds clutched reasonably the same. There were advantages and disadvantages to both, but for the amount of money to swap over to the PC for most people when they already have the 5.1, I don't think you'd see any real gain. The 55 Assault came with the comp track in 2011 so both of us knew from the beginning we would be swapping to something else. He got a smoking deal on the PC track and was given drivers, did the install himself. I picked up a 2011 5.1 for $300 and did the install myself as well.
