question for central heat/a.c. guys...

ok, i have a central air/heat here.. well you know that smell you get when you first turn the heat on for the year?? well, i am getting that smell just about everyday, and i still have the air conditioning on, its been on since friggin april so wheres the smell coming from?


oh, and the whole system is only about 2.5 years old.....

Your getting that smell when you run the A/C? Sounds like something's in the coil. Have you changed your filter lately? Also check your blower wheel, to make sure something didn't crawl in there and die.
 
Like they said- check the filter, coil and blower for any thing dead. Also check the condensate drain from the AC that it isn't plugged and letting water set in the coil drain pan. Also if your HVAC system has a duct that is under a concrete slab, you might be getting water setting in the duct from a plugged condensate line or from ground water. This will really smell bad after awhile. Good luck! Al
 
also check the heat exchangers for cracks, when they sit they tend to rust up and will crack or get holes in them pumping carbon monoxide in your house, being thats its pretty new it may not be an issue but its worth a check!
