Question about the "Snowpulse Lifebag Pro Rider" ?

Thread Rating
5.00 star(s)
I think this is year I get a Avy backpack.....the catch is: I hate backpacks. I hate dying too, so I want to get the SMALLEST pack I need. The "Lifebag Pro Rider" is supposed to be 10L of storage. Just want to make sure a shovel and probe fit in there.....that's all I want....maybe an emergency jug of water and a pair of socks, but that's it. I carry samiches, tools, water, shovel, and other junk in the tunnel bag....I don't want a bunch of weight on my back.

Thanks all.....

ABS freeride is very small. I think it is 400 cu in in storage. I just bought one and can get a pair of gloves, a 70 oz camelback, a shovel, probe, and handle and that is it.

The Lifebag Pro-Rider is a really slick low profile bag. It is no problem to fit in your water bladder, shovel and probe. There is extra space there too - if you need extra socks! What is nice is that the way the airbag itself sits - behind the nape of your neck and over your shoulders - there is not a lot of extra weight hanging off your back in the backpack. The extra weight is nice and close to your frame so you don't notice it!

Thanks for the answers! The only water might be a 500ml for e-use. I want the pack to remain very light....be there for what it's intended: float my fat carcass to the top of an avy, or have my rescue gear handy to help someone else out. Water, food, tools...on the sled.

One more question: it'll fit on a dainty 270lb, 6'4" linebacker right?

Yes - you will deffinitely want to order a long-back pack. Another option to consider is the 15L pack. The base frame is a little bit more burly and the storage space is just a little bigger... but cinches down super small.

Dave, like you I don't care for too large of a pack on my back, consider the option of the AVI-VEST, the test that I've seen look promising and much more ergonomic, storage is spread out around your torso.

I have been carrying a pack for the last decade, when I ski or sled. Once you get used to it, you'll forget it's there for the most part. The key is to keep it as light as possible, with good support, and a waiste strap. A floppy pack sucks.

Water weighs 7.66lbs per Gallon at 76°F. It can get real heavy, real fast. I carry most of my fluids on the sled with the exception of sodas when I bring them.

My coffee is always in my pack, it's a trade-off i'm willing to take.

I've been looking at avy packs also and would like to have one, but I can't pop a grand right now.

Happy sleddin...

Avy Bags

I have used the ABS Freeride for 2 years now. I also like a small bag and do not want to much weight in it. The Freeride can carry more gear/stuff than most realized. If you have not looked at them yet, take a look, there is more storage than most think.

We hare running a Freeride special now, you get either a Free BCA shovel and probe or a Free Spot Beacon.

We've got the SnowPulse and ABS packs in stock. SnowPulse Prorider is $899, or if you want more storage including external shovel pocket, the Highmark is $999. We only have the Long packs in stock. They seem to fit a lot better for most riders since they're made for anyone over 5'8".
