Have an 02 Summit HM X 800, DPM and everything still hooked up, jetting is 470 PTO and 460 Mag, nylon spacer under the E-clip on the stock needles, has an aftermarket can and wisecos, stock engine otherwise. Been this way since I bought it quite a few years ago, and it has always run pretty clean, gotten as good a mileage as any 800 sleds I have ridden with, and did not have any mid range stumbles or hesitation.

Picked up some VF3 reeds a while back and finally installed them (with the stock boost bottle) since the stock reed cages were delaminating and have been repaired but that makes me nervous. Idle is fine, but off-idle on up to midrange seems really fat and blubbery (?), as in I fouled a couple plugs when following a relatively slow group through woods and along rough trails. First time losing a plus on this sled in years. In general it seems like you open it up a little more and it runs fine, like climbing or riding groomed trails at 30-60mph. Doing the slow stuff makes it drink gas too - never gotten that bad mileage before, especially not doing any serious playing or climbing.

Would going from stock reeds and cages to VF3 on an 02 make the pilot jets too rich? I know that sled needed reed spacers or VF3's to help wake it up, but I would not have expected it to get richer on the bottom end. If anything I would have thought I would need to jet up a size on the mains.
