Got bored the other day so I decided to go for a ride around the loop...

The Super bowl still has a little cornice left on it, but that's about it

Definitely like it better in the winter, but still a good get away from town in the summer too!
:D:D

Any other sledders do any quadding up there in the summer?

Very nice! I need to take a weekend and bring the RZR over and do some boondockin!

Thanks for sharing the pics.

how is the quadding up there, I can drag the wifes quad over there to ride

Dont really know that I can say seeing as I am fairly new to quadding... you can only ride the roads, but it is a good little escape as far as somewhere close to me to go. Dont think its worth a long drive tho for summer play. seeing as the road system is somewhat limited...

I'm looking forward to once Rimrock is drained for the year... can you say mud runnin:D:D:D:D

When does Rimrock drain and can you take your trucks out there? Lake CleElum used to be open for muddin years back but got closed for a few years for some study (thats just what I heard). It was always a good time out there.

I would assume it is, its not a very big area so you dont see too many out there, but there are always a few... and they have a dirtbike race there every fall as well.

We go riding at Ahtanum about 2-3 times a year on Quads and 2-3 times on Sleds!! There is some very narrow, steep, rocky, and challenging trails there also. Don't get me wrong it is mostly road riding to get to the good spots!!! I think we may be heading up there again this month, not 100% sure yet!

Someone said that there was a fire there a couple days ago, anyone know anything about that?

I would put pictures up but for some reason I have a hard time shrinking them to fit on here!

if the RZR gets out of the paint shop I am planning on coming over this weekend for a little camping/riding trip!:D

Fire

Yes, fire started on Saturday and as of today they are still moping it up. It's estimated that about 500 acres burned. They have all access to the area via Middle Fork, North fork, and 1070 roads blocked. I would think by this coming weekend that they should have it open.
I would definately check before heading up.

Thanks for the heads up! Any websites or phone numbers I can call before I head all the way over there??

Thanks again.

I hope the fire opened up more riding areas for in the winter;):D:D:D

Last story I read was it was caused by a lightning strike:eek:

actually fire season seems to be off to a pretty slow start this year, surprising considering the amount of trees that have succumbed to that beetle infestation the last few years:eek:

Thanks Krazy Ken for the info!! We are looking to plan a trip the 24th, 25th, 25th of this month. I was thinking about the rimrock area, I havne't been there before. I love the Naches area but I hate trailering the quads to go ride. It is so much easier and cheaper to unload them off the motorhome and take off from camp.

Any suggestions for a weekend trip???

The Rimrock side has almost no legal riding. About the only place you can get away with is to unload at the 1050 road and ride up to the Blue slide area. It get very difficult at the top and getting over the top on a quad is very rough. Other than that you can ride the Short and Dirty trail but it is down right dangerous. A guy died on his quad on that trail last year and it claimed a broken leg of mine a few years back. Unless someone else knows a route other than that I would ride somewhere else. We got busted by the Forest service up there last year and could have received $200 tickets each, but instead he allowed us to get back to camp and load them up. Just our lucky day I guess.
The Tampico / Autanum side is state land and is legal to ride. If they open it back up, I'd go there.

Thanks Krazy Ken for the info! I'm not big into breaking the law so we will stay where its legal!!!

Thanks Snow Flake that is a great site, I had never seen that before!

You guys ROCK!:)
