QD V Chain

OK Polaris faithful. Looking at a new sled this season. Been on the Axys and it felt like I was trying to balance on a basketball. Everyone says coming from a Pro you have to learn to ride it. OK there was a learning curve from the Edge to the Pro so I can buy that. The new Doo is unproven, and the Cat.... well we all know about the issues there. I have a line on a hold over from 2016 (Great Deal) but it has the QD. My son rides a 14 with the QD and I am sick of replacing the belts. 100 mi break in my as$! How do you break in a belt riding places like Tonys Grove? Are you guys seeing issues on these overpriced belts or am I just unlucky?

1100 Miles on my axys without an issue. i carry a spare just in case. 100 miles with turbo

600 miles on the wife's 14 600 without a second thought.

I've got a buddy who is well over 250 with his gear on and he rides the crap out of his '13 with a QD no issues with 2,000+ miles but with that being said my brother toasted a QD belt spinning out on ice then catching traction he's maybe 180 geared up, and franklin basin right up the road would give you more belt friendly break in terrain on the ride into the steep and deep.

My old 14 has 1600 miles on it now, 600 with a 3" track with no issues. My axys has 600 miles on it and no issues. In fact ive never seen a qd belt break and i pretty much ride with pros and axys.

I had a couple QD Pros and have an Axys. The '13 was the weak belt year. I ruined one QD belt because didn't do the break in. Since that I have over 3000 miles on QD sleds and not a single issue. If you are breaking them you are riding like an idiot. I have found the QD system to be easily as reliable as a chain case sled and MUCH more responsive. I wish we could get the 3" tracks with the QD because I don't want a chain case sled anymore.

QD all day! I own both and it's just a better reliable system any more.. Call tki they'll tell you the same.. Mine held up on 7lb sliber turbo no issues not even a belt... 800 miles

8 axys in my group, one has 2400 miles the rest 500-1200 ish miles. Not one quick drive belt issue. All even the 2400 mile sled is one the stock q.d. belt.

Thanks for the replies. Do you guys do much jumping, cornice drops etc? How exactly have you been breaking in the belts? How many miles are you doing on break ins? Thanks

I would break the belt in the same way you break the motor in. Ride it like you normally ride it.

The quick drive is superior IMO because its one less place with fluid, track changes become a real breeze, and its lighter. I really think reliabilty issues were only real in 2013 or in boosted applications where guys land hard fully spooled.

If the sled is right, I wouldnt be at all afraid of either drive system.

I get mine real warm and then park and let let it cool down. Repeat about 4 or 5 times. Then I ride normal with exception of long WFO pulls until I get a few miles (50-75ish) on the belt. My 13 belt went 1700 miles and then I sold the sled.

I ride it like I stole it and pack a spare. It's not a problem and gets over blown on the internet. If it breaks, change it, but I wouldn't ruin a day of riding worrying about my QD belt. I did change to ARP bolts for the pulleys though. I have some spares for both the Axys and the Pro if someone needs them.

tons of spring WOT landings on rock hard snow on an axys, 630 miles and counting, about all of them are some of the hardest most aggressive miles I have seen put on a sled without issue. They really haven't been an issue on the axys, or really even anything besides first year on pro's anyways.

I'm a fan of chain rode both own 15 le (pro) with chain and my sks I'm a bigger fan of easier gearing and better driveshaft with no bandaid on it but to each there own

You want to learn about belt drive call tki CNC tom will tell you why modern chain cases suck.. If your worried about hitting a stump or rock spooled up get tki tensioner best 250 you can spend to clear your mind. I ran a 7# silber last year on 2.6 axys jump every thing keep it to the floor and no issues 850 miles not a clutch belt even yet
