Wondering if anyone has a good picture or two of the QD drive belt tool I could see? Wondering how tough they would be to build?

QD Special Tool

I have the special tool, it is usefull but you can change belts and sprockets without it. Remember, the QD belt kit provides the belt and new bolts and its important to utilize them. The removal is simple, just remove the bolts and pull both sprockets and belt off as a unit. Don't try and remove the belt first. Work them off the shafts together and at the same time to prevent binding. Same as re-assemble, put the belt on the sprockets, making sure the arrow is pointing toward the front of the machine and the sprocket lips are orinented correctly (large lower sprocket lip in, small upper spocket lip out). Because the belt is a tight fit, the alignment tools help to get you started on the shafts, allowing you to get the spread distance to make it fit easyier. You can work them on yourself, start with the lower sprocket and just push it on just enough to hold it, not any further, and then work on the upper sprocket being carfull not to damage the sprocket or shaft cogs. Once you have them both started, push them the rest of the way on together. Reinstall the cupped washers, dome out and the new bolts and torque to 30ft lbs.

I agree the tool makes it a bit easier, but not mandatory if done properly with care. Polaris should have desinged the shafts with and end taper to aid this process. Its not practical to carry special tools with us when we ride just to change a belt.

Hope this helps,

Cheers
