Putting lightweight seat on XCR 800 Need Help

I plan on making my xcr a little lighter this year. I took off the big bulky has tank. I purchased a tank and a boss seat for it. I still need to find a console. I was wondering if I need to buy a new tubular tank supports. Seems like I cannot get the tank far enough forward. There is a flat metal piece that prevents it from going forward. I think this held down the older square tank. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated....

Not sure what tank you got but I assume it's off a Gen II or edge. The Gen II used a bracket that is bolted in place with the steering post bolts to hold the tank down. The edge has a tab welded to the steering hoop. You can remove the plate that you are refering to and wedge the tank into the steering hoop. Make sure there are no sharp edges on the inside of the hoop. It will take some pushing but it should go. A heat gun may soften it up a little and help stuffing it in there. Then bolt the back of the tank through the tunnel. There is no console made for this application on a XCR. You may be able to make one off a Gen II work though. I also have one off a prox that may be fitted if you want. It is off an edge chassis but it's basically flat and not "shell" shaped like the Gen II and regular Edge console. Don't forget you need a tail light. Lots of choices there. LED aftermarket or if you have room on the tunnel, you can bolt on the Gen II rack and light combo.

What are you doing about you oil bottle? Again no recess in the 2 piece tank for it. I had mine cut down so it would fit.

this is going to me an improver setup. no oil injection so no worries there. Wouldnt a console fit from a gen2 xc500sp or 600? I figure its about the same but maybe not?

I don't see any mention of what year, if 99 no if 2000 then yes or most likely any Gen II console from 99-2001. The Gen II tank is a little different than the edge. I believe the Gen II had a recess where the pull rope goes by the tank. Hopefully that's the tank you have. Edge is rope more over the top of the tank and no recess.

To get the tank far enough forward your going to have to go to a different style oil tank. The one that is stock on the sled wont work with that seat and tank combo.

Oil tank has been removed.....so that will be no issue..its also a gen 2 chassis

I missed this post when i replied, sorry about that. Yes a console from a 500 or 600 would work just fine. The only real difference is the opening for the tank how it mounts is the same.
