Putting an 06 144 skid in my Fusion. Need help

I bought a 144 switchback uncoupled skid and I want to put it in my Fusion, now I am assuming this would be the same as putting the skid into any IQ with a standard tunnel, the rear mounts are not far back enough to fit the skid, is there a writeup or anything, or has anyone done this? I would just get extensions but I want to have an uncoupled rear suspension.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Then there will be that the skid/tunnel bolts for the bump skid are larger size (7/16 vs 3/8), so more differences. You will have to find a 144" sled and start measuring in relation to the drive axle. Then install the 144" brackets and off you go. It can be done. I've spent lots of money on an aftermarket skid that allows me to couple the front and rear torque arms, so I find your last sentence interesting. Good luck on your endeavor. 550iq

Sorry this may be a dumb question, but what do you mean by bump skid? I want this to work soo bad because I miss my 06 switch a lot, but never was keen on the looks, and it was getting beat up, and I have ALWAYS wanted a Fusion, I was just hoping this would be an easier job than its turning out to be, I already have the skid and track of an 06 switch

The rear skid in your Fusion is built for taking the bumps. It is heavy (solid steel shafts), coupled and has a steep approach angle. All for the heavy hit at speed. You want to change over to the snow skid. Lighter, uncoupled and a flatter approach angle. Just like the Switchback. Just need to get access to any Polaro 144 sled and get the measurements and required tunnel plates. Also, do not forget about the tunnel extention. A worthy cause. 550iq
