Putting a RMK 700 motor back together

I had a rod bearing go out on my '06 RMK 700. I sent the crank out to have the bearing replaced, and now am in the process of putting the engine back together and I have a couple of questions.

1) Do I need to prime the oil injection system, or will it do it itself upon firing up the engine?

2) Is there any sort of timing that needs to be done as far as ignition and oil injection goes?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes you will need to prime your oil injection pump, look for the hex screw at the front of the pump, and blow into the oil bottle to create positive pressure in the lube system and push the air out of the system. And no, you don't have to worry about setting up the timing, two strokes don't require any valve timing, ignition timing is set by the ECU, as well as the fuel injector timing.

I'd have to go out and look at it, but IIRC, the oil pump is almost impossible to get to once everything (throttle bodies, exhaust manifold, etc) is put back together, correct? Probably the best way to prime the oil pump is to hook up the oil bottle, prime the pump, then take the bottle back off to finish piecing everything back together?

I've used a big syringe to get all the lines as full as possible when hooking them up. You need to premix your first tank of gas as well.

I didn't even think of the syringe thing, that is a good idea, thanks!

Why the premix for the first tank? To help seat the rings properly?
What ratio do I use, 32:1, 40:1, 50:1? 50:1 might be too much since it would be that much more oil on top of what the engine already injects to itself.

You premix so the motor is still getting oil even with small bubbles in the oil lines. 100:1 will work for the tank. Too much oil is way better than not enough.

i agree too much is better than not enough...I just don't want my sled smoking like a freight train haha

I put two gallons in at 40:1 so just in case there is a oil problem you will still be covered. Run the sled for 10 or so miles and then fill the tank with 100:1
