I have a 99 MXZ 600 that I bought new back in early 2000. I have since run that machine to hell and back a few times. It has over 8,000 miles on the odometer, though it is probably about 1,000 miles higher since I ran a season with a broken speedo cable. The engine has had one full rebuild and two top end rebuilds. I love this sled and have it dialed in just right.
A few weeks ago I picked up a 2000 Summit 600 for the wife and a 2001 summit 700 144" for myself both with only 1200 miles on them in great condition.
I would like to take the front suspension and HPG rebuildable shocks from my MXZ and swap it with my new Summit for better trail and bump performance. The MXZ will then live out it's remaining days as a backup sled and extra for guests.
From what I have been able to tell, I should be able to just swap the shocks, radius rods, tie rods and sway bar. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think I will have to swap the trailing arms.
It looks like the rear shocks on both the MXZ and summit are 17.09" so I should be able to swap them over. The center shock seems to be a slightly different size (12.90" on the MXZ and 13.57" on the summit) so I will probably have to find one from a different source.
If anyone out there more knowledgeable than myself can see any issues I might be missing or provide any advice, please let me know before I get myself into trouble.
