putting a 153 on an 03 summit...anyone done this?

yanking out the OEM 151, and putting in a 153 x 2.25 x 15.

getting 7T extro drivers.....

got an 8" mmp wheel kit....should work. anyone seen or done this?

Nope, haven't done this myself, but seems like it would work no problem.

that's what i'm hoping too.

did the math, and the 7T 3 pitch...and the 2.25 lug should leave me w/ about a 1/3 to 1/2" of additional space compared to the stock 2" and 9T 2.52 pitch i have running now.

then the 7T will probably gear me down a tick? planning on running stock gearing and clutching.

if you don't have a skidoo service manual get one they are awesome. i got mine off of ebay for cheep. I will be doing my track drivers on the 20th. so i will report how it goes.

track

thinkin about goin to a 156 2.5 for next yr. 16 wide. how come you went to a 15 and not 16?? the whole carvin, sidhillin thing? or is there somthing else?? thanks. and ditto on the shop manual, got one on a cd off e-bay my self,,, way cool

Just did some quick math for ya, should gear you down about 7% going from the 9t 2.52 pitch to the 7 tooth 3 pitch. bigwheel will do it not problem, heck, you could probably do it with stock adjusters, but hte bigwheel will make sure she works.

I think he went with the 15 wide, cuz it looks like the track he got is a cat takeoff, so right now with everybody being all obsessed with the powderclaw, they are pretty easy to get cheap and work great, the lug depth really helps, even though its only a 1/4" and any length helps.

I did this track installation on my 97 Summit , look and see if your track has the same size drive lugs inside the rails and outside too, reason why is after I installed my track found out that the arctic cat track runs smaller lugs on the outside of the rails I was told they had sonething to do with the reverse on a newer Cat, So I had to take a razorblade and cut off every other lug cause the driver hit them cause the smaller lugs are between every pitch on the outside and are normal lugs on the inside. my 7 tooth extrovert Wahl drivers still drive off the windows and the lugs inside the rails should work fine but would kinda like to be running on both. I run the 6 1/2 wheel on the rear of the skid and had to move the skid back 1inch I calculated wrong and moved it back 2 inchs to start with and was to tight came out good only 1 inch back. I`m running about 1 1/2 inch sag in the track I think I could run it looser but will try this for now Also Ported the track and spins really easy went with two 1 1/4 holes every pitch.

you see if the pics turn out the drivers hit the lugs on the outside , and a close up of the small ones and on the track pic you can see where I cut them off they cut off with a razor knife very easy. If you track doesn`t have the smaller lugs and the sled it came off of didn`t have reverse it would not have this problem and lugs will be the same inside and outside the rails. either way I hope this helps out.

I Hope

if you nave a rear axle kit you could just turn it around to get the extra length you need. i just put a 162 16 2 1/2 under my 03 with a 9 tooth 3.0 pitch. there is some rubbing on the top of tunnel but clears the front cool no problem.
