puttin gas in a ford

i have a 2006 f 350 with v 10 have trouble getting gas in tank can never run noozle faster than first click with 38 gallion tank takes forever.any others having this problem.thanks

If you can rotate the nozzle 180 degrees . Or just put the tip of the nozzle in if you can .. I had the same problem ..

I think it is in the venting those trucks. We have several 05-06 f-250s for work trucks and it can take 20 minutes or more to fill them. Not as big of a deal when you are on the clock:D

Ill dig around on the one forum. Theres a little mod you can do involving trimming back the filler neck, and vent inside the tank. Just saw the pictures for it the other day. Some guys have the problem, some dont.

Coxy, it's called the "harpoon" mod. I've never done it, but would if I was dropping the tank. It doesn't bother me that much that I want to drop it :)

I can usually fill another 5-7 gallons after it clicks off. Works great on road trips, but takes a little while to fill to the neck!

i use bailing wire to hold the pump on at just the right spot so it allows maximum fillage w/ no kick off.... kinda ghetto and dagnerous if you leave the pump.. but it works for me.

I'm filling up a 1996 power stroke w/ a diesel pump from a truck stop though.

Thats the one Blk88GT! Haha i was just reading the how-to the night before, but i guess with old age the memory is going out. Im not really sure, but im pretty sure i can fill mine up without messing around... Unless its fooling me, its always seemed to take the same amount. I think the short box trucks had smaller tanks? But yeah man i hear ya, im not dropping the tank just for something to do. If i need to go in there then i will do it.

There is a Filter in the filler tube it is plugged. all of the trucks at work have the same problem. the mechanics fixe it for us in about an hour

On my 93 some ahole cut the smaller hose in the filler tube when changing the fuel pump now it does the same as you describe. maybe the same problem?the fuel goes is supposed to go in the small one and air comes up around it to vent.

Its the vent on the HD Fords. It vents through the evap system there is a TSB out for it. I have had good luck by blowing out the evap canister and vents with air. You need to remove the spare tire to access it.

i dropped the rear tire on sunday to check out the rear venting and blue out the stuff under tire sence it was the easy to do . put gas into truck worked alot better.thanks for help.

I had a truck that the rear tank was a pain to fill. I carried a small piece of wood and drove up on it at the pump. Made it alot easier to fill........shrug.
