Purchasing a sled trailer in the USA

Looking at buying an enclosed trailer out of Montanna and was wondering what is involved . I have imported sleds before but not a trailer, it is considered used but has a certification of origin but the owner has never registered it, do I need a title or can I just import/export it with the certificate of origin, also do you need to give notice like a sled or can you just bring it to the border, and do you need to stop at the US side.

Thanks
Rob

Not sure about the title thing. Probably just need the bill of sale for customs. I know you don't have to give the 72 hr. notice because you don't have to stop at the US side. Just for motorized. You will still have to do the RIV thing though and the GST of course.

Call Steve at Gardner's RV in Kalispell, MT (406) 752-7683... He can tell you exactly what you need to cross the border with a US trailer.

Certificate of origin, bill of sale, recall clearnce letter, gst @ the border, Canadian Tire inspection after you get home. You don't have to advise the border guys(at least not @ Emmerson in MB) and the paper work at the border is a breeze. This was with a new trailer but used should be similar.

The US border does not need anything (nor do you have to stop) because it is not motorized. Just have to deal with the Canadian side for taxes and such.
