Pulled the trigger new to forum and Snowbike any advice? MY SET UP

This is going to be my set up on my 2012 wr450 with 65 miles everything is going to be installed this week and more, i have the special ramp all ordered up.

All i need is advice from you all what to look for

And i was thinking should i get the pants that you would have for riding a snowmobile or would it burn and melt on the exhaust?

Great info all thru this site in previously posted threads. Look at "Solution to melting pant" about 27 threads ago. Some good info there on pants and how to protect them.

Set up has been talked about quite a bit. Scroll through the forum. Lots of advice. Put a guard or pipe wrap on the exhaust. Or buy the new Klim pants for snowbikes.

Well, to answer your question about pants......yes you should wear a snowmobile pant, so you stay dry. An exhaust guard may prevent burning them, or you may want to wrap the excess material with duct tape, to keep off exhaust. All depends on how far the pipe comes out on a WR. I dont own one, but your anxious for replys so there is mine. Other things to watch for are carburetor freezing, and keeping snow from plugging the airbox. Do a search on here for WR setup topics.

wow 23 views and no reply not even a ounce of advice

anyone know of a better forum where people talk and help?

Wow... you really want to make some friends here, huh? Try the forum search option before posting... your bike is one of the most popular ones that people ask questions about. I bet there are 40+ threads on your bike alone.

I don't have time to sit and read 40+ posts or threads so I made my own to answer my question and can check when I can. Thanks for all you help guys but I did find another forum stay safe out there

I agree do a search or I guess we should re write our re writes.
I have same bike, would not do the larger fuel tank, insteal haul fuel too top heavy IMHO
spending this amount of money go for full exhaust and YZ cam- major summer improvement and medium in the winter, not so much gear chasing
block all areas around airbox, I used frogskin on number plate holes 2 holes on top of airbox(under the seat) and dense foam (shopvac filter) under the seat between seat and bike frame
Cut a blue kerosene jerry can as an engine guard and therma stat will keep temps up and even
and get some patience!!!

idk i get into a rush and I'm sorry for the attitude I'm a very nice person i just go off the handles sometimes

i think I'm just frustrated cause i just can't seem to find the right bibs and coat an d just stressing to get the right gear switching to sledding is costing me about 12k so i just want me first ride to go good.

I think the guy was just excited about his new bike, kinda like u diesel twitch when u broke ur forks and then the times u posted a bunch of lame pics of u riding thru a huge flat meadow with a bunch of sleds. maybe u should become the snow bike moderator and only posts u approve of will be allowed. nobody likes a keyboard hero, up till now there haven't been any on the snowbike side. yes some people are a little to willing to post a new thread, but hey at least it speaks to the excitement these bikes generate.

as for ur setup that looks like a good list of nice stuff. U might want to put a pipe on there for more power but that should be about it. Do the intake mods to keep snow out of the airbox, that is something u can find using the search function, if the airbox is a pain on the new wr go for the boondocker clean air intake. Read thru the kx500 monster thread randy shows pics and talks about where to get the parts. The bigger tank does make the bike a little more topheavy, but not running out of gas 5 times a day is nice too so I would run with it. good luck and happy times!

the funny thing is the exhaust is back ordered and i want to ride this weekend so they are going to pull the only one off of the one on the showroom floor and put it on mine

I'd say get some seat time, and be safe out there! Holding back on just going nuts is going to be the hard part. Find someone to ride with, and learn from them on the mtn.

Seat time, ride, seat time.. Ride.. type.. The key is more seat time than type time. If the ratio is off, you get the harder side of the us around here.

Look dude... just read again what you are saying. You don't have time to read old topics that THOROUGHLY flesh out the details of why we found X to be the best, or the problems associated with doing things the Y way. But you have no problem soliciting other peoples free time to answer the same old questions again... because who cares right? It isn't your time after all.

I've been here for a lowly 3+ years and that is not even the beginning of this bike section, but it's at the start of the Mountain Horse craze on Snowest. To this day we still don't have everything figured out and probably never will, but we ask you one thing. Please take some time to go back through our discussions because you will see the WHY on how we chose a certain way to do something... you will see what other people tried and how it worked out for them... you'll see A LOT of good information from the people who went through the same adoption pains you are going through. This place is an indexed library of 3+ years of Mountain Horse history (and snowhawk history, 2moto history, Bovian Explorer history, etc) and if you can't take the time to read up on the $12k toy you currently own then I don't really know what else I can do for you other than the canned standard responses: bark busters, footpegs, gas can, GYTR kit, airbox mods, full exhaust or at least a slip on, stiffen the front forks to at least a .52nm spring and thicken the fork oil to prevent nose dives.

Best of luck dude.

If you feel that way thats your point of view i personal rather have my thread with MY questions about my set up and the way i see it. If you have a problem with my theories you don't have to reply but i rather ask the questions i have in MY thread so its easy to go back and check it and not go through pages and pages of threads to get a simple response to the exact question I'm asking.

If you have a problem with how i do things on a open forum i do care to ask you not to comment on my post again

Theres a reason behind how i ask things theres not a lot of info out there and maybe 3 threads on melting pants ever thing that i looked at them and my question isn't answer and i rather have them on my thread that is going to help me personal

If you don't like it don't worry i don't care but i don't need a lecture from someone who thinks his opinion means something when your talking down to someone .

klim klimate bibs

So I'm thinking of going with the Klim Klimate Bibs since it seems that snow doesn't get in them as easy but then again Klim makes pants with leather which would be nice. What are your thoughts? They are wrapping my header for me and after i get the bike back I'm going to put on a carbon fiber shield so I'm thinking the bibs might be the path to go.

Also i was just going to use my Comp 5 Fox moto boots with cold weather socks, what are thoughts on using dirt bike boots for snow biking?
