I took my carbs off my 03 700 and noticed there was a elbowed fitting that was capped off. It appears to go to the PTO bearings. Does this elbow need a oil line connected to it? Or are they all capped off like this?

So what's the point? do I need to drop a little oil in there before each season or what?

it was originally intended to be an oil line, but rotax decided to pack the outer bearings with grease instead of feeding them oil all the time. not sure why, who knows but the engineers who made the decision. So rather than retool and build the cases differently they just cap the fitting off.

What should happen every 2000 miles or so is split the case halves and replace the Isoflex grease that the bearings are packed in. This will help the bearings last longer.

while you are at it make sure it is good and sealed and not cracked. Buddy's was cracked and caused air leak and sweaked his motor.
