ptek 800HO getting ~4mpg on a packed snow day

I bought an 06 rev with 2k miles on it, crank failed after 25 miles. I noticed poor gas mileage at the time but figured a new motor would fix it.

So... I just installed a new longblock from BRP, same poor mileage. All stock - motor, pistons, jetting, exhaust, etc. All sensors are hooked up and the computer does not give any beep errors. It runs great and has excellent power, but I can tell it is running extremely rich - both in mileage and by the way it loads up easily.

I figure it is a sensor not sending the right signal to the ECM, so the DPM is not creating a negative pressure in the float bowls to lean it out... or the DPM is failing.

Any other ideas?

My 04 was getting about 5 mpg on hero snow. Found clutch spring cap bushing gone bad and caused clutch to stick. Replaced the cap and puck springs in the clutch, changed to 417 ramps, same 160/350 primary, DJ's helix and purple secondary. 8,000-11,000'

Runs hard @9-10 mpgs.

My 06 probably averages 10 ,my 07 'R' does even better being rode harder.Mabe you're not riding hard enough? Try beating the "Heebee Jeebee's "out of it.

Last time out we had awesome snow and my sled hardly shut off. I was wide open all day and I ran out of gas with 49 miles on the clock and with a 10 gallon tank thats just about 5mpg. It doesnt seem to run rich at all either.

According to DOOtalk, the REV's and XP's gas tanks develope an air lock in the rear---push the bumper down and add 1-1.5 gallons.
