PSI Pipes Yamaha 700 triple

Hi everyone,

I just bought a set of used triple PSI pipes for my 2000 Yamaha Mountain Max 700. I already have the clutching set at 9000 rpm. That seems to be working good. I called PSI and they really didn't give me a good answer as far as jetting. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with these pipes as far as mains/pilots/needle settings. How many sizes did you increase?

Thanks

I know the stock specs show the PTO side of the engine carb takes once size larger of main than the other two cylinders. Does this hold true with the pipes also? Or are you just running 145 straight across the board?

Good luck with a PSI pipe on a Yamaha at high elevation with out head work. They never worked on my 700, it had terrible bog in the first 1/4 throttle.

I have PSI's on my 97 mm700 and they run great. I am always between 6500 and 9000 ft and have never experienced a low end bog. When I first bought this machine, I took it to TJ in Alpine, Wyoming to get "TJ's Setup." He tuned it perfectly and I have never had any problems until my last ride when the PTO side carb started fouling my plugs. I'm not sure if it is jet related or if I have some other problem. Anyway, TJ set me up with 140 mains and 47 pilots - at least that is what I remember. My RPM's top out at 9200 which is a little higher than I want but it sure runs good. I do use an unusual amount of oil which is probably contributing to my fouled plugs.

Sorry, I think TJ only put 140 on the PTO side. I can't say for sure but that is what my alleged mind recalls.

Ok I just went to the dealer and checked out the chart. The normal setting for 6700-8300 FT is MJ1# 135 amd 2&3 are 133.8. Pilot Jet #60. That in mind I got one size bigger because of the pipes. I got 136.3 and 135's with Pilot Jet 60. Also What should I do for clutching? I have several rivets available. The book calls for two 10.3 AL. Right now I am running two 17.2 Steel and it is about right. I am guessing I should go one size heavier also?
