Pros ans cons on 08 700RMK

I am looking at a clean under 300 mile used 08 700RMK with easy start as a primary sled for my wife. Are there any major issues on the 08 CFI 700 as in lean fuel mapping like my 09 D800.I know about the chessey front plastic bumper.I am wanting something long term with minimal reliability issues[I already have one 800 with the updated mill, not looking to go back down that road]Other option but about twice the cost is to give her my D800 and purchase a new Pro RMK but that not really affordable

Only problem I can see is your wife kicking your a** on that 700.Wouldn't give mine up for nothing but a 700 pro rmk which there not going to make.

Great sled, we have 4500 miles on ours and the only part I've had to replace is the starter solenoid on the electric start for $27.

07 600 RMK 155 (for sale)

nothing but good to say about them. I have 2500 miles w/o one problem, I love the sled but it is time for a pro.

Excellent sled. I'd say there are little improvements to work on, but no major issues. Improvements like sealing up the air plenum around the headlight area, replacing the front bumper, etc. The 700 does not have the low end grunt/torque of an 800 for big climbs, but it has plenty of power for most of us and is a dependable motor. I still can't figure out why Polaris can produce a great 600 and 700 engine, and have so many issues with the 800 for reliability???

as others have said before: 700 or 600 are both great. I would think about the 600 and then later add the Carls big bore kit to it if you need more for a back up sled. I think the 600 is a great sled and is often overlooked and under valued.

I have the 700 and love it. It just runs, day in and day out. The power is very good but is obviously a little short of an 800. Just like morsno said, doesn't have the grunt of an 8 but more than enough power for most of us - and I bought mine after the last two machines were 800's. No real complaints. I have changed the front bumper, which was very easy but great sled.

The D7 was the best sled I owned. My D8 was amazing once I got it setup, but the D7 kicks arse out of the box. I got rid of it simply because there is a limitation on what power you can get out of it this side of a turbo. Now turbos are getting much more affordable, I should have just kept it. Great sled for a woman because it is not over bearing and can sidehill easy enough.

Only con is that at some point you will realize it is not an 800. Just doesn't have the bigger bore "umph" and come on as strong. But as others have mentioned, it goes wheere most all the other sled go. I was never left behind because of the power.

What is your wifes skill level?

Size and athletic abilities?

What kind of terrain will she Actually ride?

Just an update I bought her a left over demo 09 RMK 700 with easystart.Sled has 600 miles and came with a 2 yr warranty. She should be very happy. Her skill level will improve with this machine as right now she can not powerturn or sidehill. We will be spending lots of time in the meadows this winter getting her to power turn

Lucky girl! That sled is the "best" ingredient to the recipe of FUN!

First "mod" suggestion..well other then the obvious Better Boards. Remove the mtn bar. (hopefully she isn't already married to it from her past riding experiences) Teach her the fundamentals correctly and she will be out of the meadow and confidently free riding twice as quickly. (if'n she wants to)

Been there and experienced this both in my own riding skills and in teaching my girlfriend. Mine took 15 years...hers took 3 (2 totally wasted with 1 done right) Overall I used up six sleds and untold time doing it the hard way. Had I been smart enough myself or educated enough with teaching her (and myself) we could have eliminated a lot of time and money getting to the level of fun we experience now.

Yes she needs some extras too complete her sled.Betterboards are at the top of the list along with an ehaust can[not which is the best too get]ice scratchers and a cover for trailering. My sons got her a SOS handle bar bag and the polaris under seat bag for her birthday. We usually don't ride till Xmas as I don't like bending my sled so some items can be Xmas gifts

Good luck with the 700.

I was through Kelowna a month ago and was envious of the hills to ride on. Did get a trip out towards the Menashee Mt's and could see your ski hill from the East.

Sounds like an excellent plan! When you get ready for her Better Boards send me a pm and I'll organize a special for you.

Heres a few pics of my wife and her new sled
