just windering if any one has gutted an air box on a 1998 700 rmk what are the pros and cons and will i need to rejet it?

GUT IT ive got two 97 700 rmk's bothe are gutted twins pipes and can 156 ported track, big wheel kit with drivers, boondocker nos kit, slp power dome head, custom made front ifs bars and a millon miles on them. gripit and rip it
Is your 98 bone stock, still running the stock pipe? If so, don't worry about gutting the airbox. It will just make the intake noise higher and won't give you any additional performance.
If you have an aftermarket single or twins then you can start thinking about gutting the airbox and even opening the hood intake up a bit to get more air in. But not if it's still using the stock pipe.

we alwasy gutted them--you might need to raise you needles 1 notch if it has a hesitation[lean]
it is bone stock!,,,i wouldnt mind making it sound louder 
do it even stock you WILL get a little bit, but to really feel some good gain get some pipes (twin or single is up to you) get bigger carbs or bore the stockers and do some clutching and tuning.
oh ya you can make anewer style air horn kit from slp work on that sled with some mods pm me if you want more info and pics.
