Projector Beam

Has anybody installed the Polaris center projector beam kit? Just curious how it works and if the connections are already in place from factory. I'm going to install the HID/halogen kit and thought the projector might be a nice addition. thanks.

Yeah, its really pretty easy.

All the connectors are in place and it's quite easy to remove the reflector in there. You can probably have it completely done in less than an hour, the toughest part being cutting in the switch for the projector beam.

You'll have to zip tie a relay in there, but there's plenty of room.

It's nice to have the projector beam, but at $99 or whatever they want for it now, it's alot of $$$.

I put one in my 09 D8. I'm taking it out and fixing the whole in my dash for the switch with an intake vent. not worth the $100 IMHO.

I am trying them out as well this year. I was under the impression that the projector beam was independent of the main headlights, but it is not:mad: Anyway, make sure you get the right model, they make two - made this mistake as well so I installed one in the 550iq and the other in the 600cfi ride. Also, thanks for the negative comment - it very well could be my impression as well. Rest assured however, the projector beam will not replace the Lead Dog helmet light.:beer;

I put one in as I break trail to my cabin after dark a lot. As I recall it's plug & play but will only comes on with the highbeams.

I ziptied the switch up by the bulb under the intake and just leave it in the "on" position so it's on whenever I use the highbeams. I wasn't going to cut a hole to mount the switch.

I like it. It makes a difference. I think it would be a good compliment to HIDs. You'd have a lot of light!

That's a great idea...thanks for the tip:beer;. I think I will try one out, you can never have too much light:)

i have one in mine and changed it from the stick 55watt bulb from polaris to a yellow 65 watt bulb.
and i rewired it so the beam will come on with high or low beam, that was a nice little add on sence i dont ever use my high beams.

I put one in, & as GMCRMK said it was a plug in play connector set already crimped with a good set of instructions. Over time, vibration & rough riding one of the small screws backed out on the tab of the projector beam that fasten it in place and was lost in the headlight access area (air goes through this cover area before it passed through the snorkel into the air box, never found that screw). My dealer gave me a replacement, but this time I put a small tab of black high temp silicone on the screw before I screwed it in, then a little dollop on the screw head (they look like wood screws). Watch out that you don't over torque them in the plastic.
